Introduction
• Last week we continued on the series of the Fearless Christian.
• We discussed that fear is faith in reverse and fear is the reciprocal of faith.
• Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.
• Fear comes by hearing the words of the Satan.
• Satan wants you to fear that God's Word will not work for you and that God will not supply your needs.
• Satan speaks words that contradicted God's Word. Know the Word of God! This is your protection from the enemy!
• The spirit of fear causes you to think you are missing out on something.
• Fear is a spiritual force, just like faith, but fear will bring to pass what you do not want to happen.
• Guard against praying fear-based prayers, or practicing biblical principles out of fear.
• Refuse fear and walk by faith.
• Let us look this week at the Word of God and see what God has to say about the fearless Christian.
(NKJV) 2 Timothy 1 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
(AMP) 2 Timothy 1 7For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.
1) Learn to operate according to the Kingdom of God by refusing fear.
a) Shout… I choose to operate by the Kingdom of God principles.
b) Last week we discussed that fear is the reciprocal of faith.
i) Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.
ii) Fear comes by hearing the words of Satan.
iii) The foundation of all fear is selfishness.
iv) The foundation of faith is unconditional love.
c) When you are tempted to fear, say what God has said about the situation in His Word.
d) Know His Word through daily reading and mediation on the Word.
e) Operate according to the Kingdom.
i) Giving- don’t be afraid to give of your time, talent or finances.
ii) Speak the Word to fear. Use your Bible scriptures to destroy your fear.
iii) Be a doer of the Word of God. Kingdom people are doers. If you are busy doing the work of the Lord, you will forget about your fears.
2) When you make a decision to operate in faith instead of fear, sometimes a great storm will come.
(NKJV) Mark 4 35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
a) Shout… Stay Focused, Stay Focused, Stay Focused!
b) Stay focused on what Jesus has said to you. Don’t waver!
i) When God says something, believe and receive. He will not fail you.
c) Satan's goal is to cause you to doubt God.
d) For example, Jesus told the disciples they were all going over to the other side of the sea (Mark 4:36-41).
i) A storm arose and their boat began to be filled with water.
ii) It seemed as if Jesus' words would not come to pass.
iii) What God speaks, He completes (i.e. The Cross)
iv) The disciples became afraid, and woke up Jesus, who rebuked the wind and commanded the sea to be still. (Fear settled in on the disciples)
v) Jesus asked the disciples, Why are you so fearful?
vi) When Jesus is with you, you cannot fail. Be in faith!
3) Walking on the water demonstrated that Jesus had the power over fear by His faith!
(NKJV) Matthew 14 22 Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. 23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. 24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. 25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” 28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” 31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
a) Shout… I have the power over fear.
b) Jesus dominated the natural law of gravity when He walked on water.
i) Peter's faith enabled him to walk on the water with Jesus (vs. 29).
ii) When Peter noticed the strong wind, he lost focus, became afraid, and began to sink.
(1) Peter had a short burst of faith. In other words, his faith did not last very long. (Many Christian’s faith walk is just like Peters)
c) When Satan puts challenges before you, will you doubt God and allow your faith to waver?
i) When you take a second thought about what God has said, you have granted fear access into your life. Just DO IT!
ii) Fear produces doubt.
iii) Doubt the Doubt.
iv) Feed your faith with God's Word and starve doubt by refusing to receive anything that opposes His Word. Confession In the name of Jesus, I cast fear out of my life forever! Therefore, in my life, at this very moment, there is no fear.
v) There is power, love, and a sound mind, but no fear here. I have faith that I am going to run over, in abundance, to the full, until it overflows. I have no fear of running out. There will be no lack in my life! I smite all lack in my life right now!
Conclusion
Your confession brings life or death, fear or faith, watch what you are speaking.
Operate by the Kingdom of God principles. Use your faith to cast out fear.
Stay focused on what God has spoken to you! Stay focused, don’t waver.
Don’t allow Satan to put a wedge into your belief system.
Don’t look at your circumstances or storms. Stand on the Word, Jesus is with you.
What God speaks, He completes.
You posses the power over fear. Doubt the doubt. Take authority like Jesus did. Speak to the storm or fear!
Fear is contaminated faith. Don’t believe the whispers of Satan. Trust in the Word and know that it works for you every time.
You are a Fearless Christian. Take your authority and dominate the fear!
