Matthew 2:1-2 KJV
1. …He is in Our Mist…
A. When we WORSHIP Him
Rev. 4:1-11--READ
Isaiah 6:1-9--READ
B. When we are WILLING
Isaiah 1:19 says…
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
Hebrews 13:20-21 says…
Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 6:6-7 says…
Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
C. When His WORD is Preached
1. The Word of TRUTH…Ps 119:43; John 17:14-17; II Cor.6:7; Eph.1:3; Col.1:5; II Tim2:15;
2. The Words of GRACE… Acts 20:32
3. The Word of PROMISE… Rom9:9
4. The Words of LIFE… Phil.2:16; I Jn. 1:1
5. The Word of RECONCILIATION…II Cor.5:19
6. The Word is GOOD… Heb.6:5
2. …He is Leading in the Battle…
II Chro. 32:7-8 says…
Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him: With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
Exodus 14:14 says…
The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
There are things to do in the mist of a Battle…
1. Sing the song of Victory
2. Teach others of His Faithfulness
3. Preach He is with us, and leading the way through. (Ex.14:14)
>>If we can’t sing, teach, or preach through the Battles , we need a rooted and grounded Saint of God to come along side and stand in the gap with us.
>>We need fresh meet dropped in.
>>David, didn’t bring doubt, criticism, blame, or bad news, he brought food to feed them in the mist of the Battle. (IISam.17:17)
3. …He is with Us while we Watch for Him…
Matthew 24:42 says…
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Titus 2:11-13 says…
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
4. …He is Standing outside Knocking…
Psalm 51:10 says…
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Revelation 3:20 says…
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Jamieson Faussett Brown Commentary states the following…
This is a further manifestation of His loving desire for the sinner's salvation. He who is Himself "the Door," and who bids us "knock" that it may be "opened unto" us, is first Himself to knock at the door of our hearts. If He did not knock first, we should never come to knock at His door
People’s NT Commentary states the following
The language implies that Christ is near. If they will open the door by repentance he is ready to enter and bless.
William Burkitt Commentary states the following….
That man's heart is Christ's door, that this door of the heart is naturally shut, yea, locked and barred against Christ by ignorance and infidelity; that, notwithstanding this, Christ knocks graciously at the door of men's hearts by his word, by his rod, by his Spirit: knocking is a vehement motion, a reiterated motion, we knock again and again; a gradual motion, first more gently, then loudly;
Christ doth not only knock, but stands knocking; it denotes the diligence (constant personal attention) of Christ in waiting upon sinners, and his patience in knocking.
