PERFECTION / Fitness / Suitability(:10)

Explanation/Argumentation:(:10)

:10—“For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things & by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.”

“it was fitting for Him”

All things are meant for & come under God’s scrutiny. Appropriate.

“Fitting/Became”—prepw—1) To stand out, to be conspicuous, to be eminent; 2) To be becoming, seemly, fit. Strong—To tower up (be conspicuous), i.e. (by implication) to be suitable or proper (third person singular present indicative, often used impersonally, it is fit or right):-- become, comely. RWP—To stand out.

“for whom are all things & by whom are all things”

Col. 1:15-18—“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven & that are on earth, visible & invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him & for Him. And He is before all things, & in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.”

Jn. 1:1-3—“In the beginning was the Word, & the Word was with God, & the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, & without Him nothing was made that was made.”

“In bringing many sons to glory”

Rom. 3:23-27—“for all have sinned & fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just & the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith.”

Rom. 8:14-17—“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, & if children, then heirs--heirs of God & joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”

Rom. 8:29-30—“For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; & whom He justified, these He also glorified.”

Rom. 9:25-26—“As He says also in Hosea: “I will call them My people, who were not My people, And her beloved, who was not beloved.” “And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not My people,’ There they shall be called sons of the living God.””

Gal. 3:26—“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”

1Jn. 3:1—“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.”

Isa. 53:11—“He shall see the labor of His soul, & be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities.”

“Bringing”—agw—1) To lead, take with one.

“to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.”

1Pet. 5:10—“But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, & settle you.”

Heb. 6:19-20—“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure & steadfast, & which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”

“Forerunner”—prodromov—A forerunner—Esp. one who is sent before to take observations or act as a spy, a scout, a light armed soldier—1b) One who comes in advance to a place where the rest are to follow.

Heb. 12:1-2—“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, & the sin which so easily ensnares us, & let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author & finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, & has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

“Perfect through sufferings.”

Heb. 5:8 -9 “though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,”

Lk. 24:25-26—To the 2 disciples on the road to Emmaus—“Then He[Jesus] said to them, “O foolish ones, & slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! “Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things & to enter into His glory?””

Lu 24:45-46—To the disciples—“And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, & thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer & to rise from the dead the third day,”

“Sufferings”—payhma—1) That which one suffers or has suffered; 2) An enduring, undergoing, suffering. Strong—Something undergone, i.e. hardship or pain; subjectively, an emotion or influence:-- affection, affliction, motion, suffering.

Took on human flesh(Php. 2:), Born in a stable, Born under the law of Moses, Despised, Afflicted, Oppressed, Rejected.

But thru that, He was perfected or appropriate for our need!

“Captain/Author”—archgov—1) The chief leader, prince; 2) One that takes the lead in any thing & thus affords an example, a predecessor in a matter, pioneer; 3) The author. Strong—A chief leader:-- Author, captain, prince. Pioneer, founder or leader.

“Perfect”—teleiow—1) To make perfect, complete; 2) To complete (perfect).

BROTHERHOOD(:11-13)

Explanation:(:11-13)

:11—“For both He who sanctifies & those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,”

Both man(sanctified) & Jesus(sanctifier) share something in common. A common nature/birth.

Jesus perfected, Man reclaimed upon his trust in Jesus’ perfection.

Jn. 17:16-21—““They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. “As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. “And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth. “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; “that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, & I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.”

Mk. 8:38—““For whoever is ashamed of Me & My words in this adulterous & sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.””

Rom. 8:28-29—“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”—Sanctification

“Sanctifies & Sanctified”—agiazw—1) To render or acknowledge, or to be venerable or hallow; 2) To separate from profane things & dedicate to God; 3) To purify. RWP—Present passive articular participle of agiazw. It is a process here as in 10:14, not a single act, though in 10:10 the perfect passive indicative presents a completed state.

“Shame”—‘A painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior’

:12—“saying: “I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.”

From Ps. 22:22—:1-22 of the Crucified Lord & :22f of the Risen Lord

“Assembly/Church/Congregation”—ekklhsia—1) A gathering of citizens called out from their homes into some public place, an assembly. ‘....Among the Greeks. It was their common word for the lawful assembly in a free Greek city of all those possessing the rights of citizenship, for the transaction of public affairs.

:13—“And again: “I will put My trust in Him.” And again: “Here am I & the children whom God has given Me.””

From Isa. 8:17-18

Gal. 4:3-7—“Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, & if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

Jesus is our brother because we share humanity, sanctification & faith.

“Here am I & the children whom God has given Me.”

Jn. 17:6-14—““I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, & they have kept Your word. “Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. “For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; & they have received them, & have known surely that I came forth from You; & they have believed that You sent Me. “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. “And all Mine are Yours, & Yours are Mine, & I am glorified in them. “Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, & I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; & none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. “But now I come to You, & these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. “I have given them Your word; & the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.”

Argumentation:

Gen. 2:18-23—“And the LORD God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field & every bird of the air, & brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, & to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, & he slept; & He took one of his ribs, & closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, & He brought her to the man. And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.””
