Jos 18:2-3 (There were 7 tribes who had not taken possession of their inheritance)
3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?
Slack: fail, (be) faint, (wax) feeble, forsake, idle, leave, let alone (go, down), (be) slack, stay, be still, be slothful,
(Heb 6:12 ) That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Slothful: sluggish, i.e. (literally) lazy, or (figuratively) stupid:--dull,
Joshua’s rebuke tells us that it was not a weakness or a failure on God’s part that they had not taken possession of their inheritance, but a slackness and slothfulness on their part.
Paul the Apostle put much emphasis on putting on the whole armor of God
(Why Put on the armor if there is not a battle to be fought?)
What is our first focus in warfare?
( It is not to hold the fort till Jesus comes and then be carried home).
It is to possess that which has been promised to us, To take possession of our inheritance
Possess: to seize, to rob, also to expel, to ruin:--cast out, to impoverish, consume, destroy, disinherit, dispossess, drive out, enjoy, (take) possession, seize upon,
Why is this our first focus?
Because until we are in possession of our inheritance we cannot help any one else to receive theirs.
The Spirit that God is looking for in this day and hour is the Spirit of the tribes of Rueben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh
They took their inheritance on this side of the Jordan
Numbers 32:32 We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan may be ours.
Deut 3:18-19-20 Ye shall go over armed before your brethren until the Lord have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you,
The reason the 3 tribes were able to go ahead and fight for their brethren, was because they had received their inheritance already.
Moses or Joshua didn’t give the children of Israel their inheritance, God did. Moses and Joshua were only instruments God used to bring them into their inheritance.
Jordan= death
Many Christians have determined that they have to cross Jordan = die before they can receive their inheritance.
7 Tribes = representative of the church; had not received their inheritance, Not because it was not theirs, but because they were slack to go in and possess it.
Too many of Gods people have settled into a someday mentality,
(But Faith is always now).
Like these 7 tribes they’re waiting to cross over Jordan to possess their inheritance.
Some how we’ve come to believe that we have to die before we receive our inheritance.
Since when does the beneficiary of the will have to die to receive what the will entitles him or her to?
It is when the testatator or the writer of the will dies, that you are entitled to take possession of the contents of the will.
You don’t have to die to get your inheritance, you just have to show up at the reading of the will so you can find out what belongs to you.
Jesus Christ was the express will of God for us, all of the riches of Heaven are contained in Christ
Heb 9:15-17 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
16 For where a testament ( or will) is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
17 For a testament (or will) is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
The will is of force, only after the death of the testator= the one who wrote the will.
Jesus died to bring us into possession of our inheritance
To bring the kingdom of God to us: (thy kingdom come thy will be done).
But for some reason many of Gods people have been convinced that we have to die before we can have our inheritance.
Many of us were raised with a Someday, somewhere, somehow, salvation that told us everything was just over in the glory land, where the soul never dies, and that one of these days we’ll die and fly and eat our pie in the sky in the sweet bye and bye.
While I definitely believe in heaven and I definitely believe there is more to come,
This someday mindset and religion is in total contradiction to everything the bible teaches.
The bible doesn’t tell me I’m going to have power when I die, it says (Ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you.
It doesn’t tell me I have to wait till I get to heaven to be blessed
Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
And it says 2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
That means the blessing that he pronounced on Abraham is mine NOW
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 (And all these blessings) shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
Come on thee and Overtake thee: Tell your neighbor (don’t look now but your about to get run over by a blessing).
3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
No where in those verses do I read that my blessing is waiting for me, on the Other Side Of Jordan.
Tell Your Neighbor: I love you and I don’t want to offend you, and if you want to wait till we all get to heaven to get blessed that’s up to you.
But don’t get mad at me, if I take mine NOW
I Just believe I’ll take mine NOW
I just believe I’ll take my Joy NOW
I just believe I’ll take my Peace NOW
I Just believe I’ll take my Prosperity NOW
I Just believe I’ll take my Power and my Anointing NOW
I just believe I’ll take my righteousness NOW
I Just believe I’ll take my Money NOW
I Just believe I’ll take my Healing NOW
You can wait till you get to heaven if you want to ( But I just believe I’ll take mine NOW).
Somebody said the Promise land in the Old Testament is a type of heaven.
That can’t be true, because there are no giants in heaven.
No my friend: The Promise land in the old testament was a type of the blessings of God that belong to us, it symbolizes our spiritual inheritance in Christ.
Jesus is the Promise land of the Believer:
2Co 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
How long are we going to be slack to possess the land which the Lord our God hath Given us?
One More time: I just believe I’ll take mine Now
