LOOK WHAT THE WIND BLEW IN
John 3
Here Jesus explains to a doctor of the law that his religion and his own righteousness were not enough before God; but that he had to be born again. Everyone birthed into God is born of the Spirit.
To help Nicodemus understand – the moving of the wind. The wind typifies the Holy Ghost.
You cannot capture the wind. The Spirit is sovereign. Comes when He wants. Leaves when He wants. No man, no religion, no denomination has the Holy Ghost in a box. He doesn’t need us, but we sure need Him! He shows up and leaves when He wants to! You cannot ‘catch the Spirit!’
You don’t control The Wind. Nobody bosses the Wind around. Nobody has the authority to command the Wind in which direction to blow. [Nino, Hugo, Katrina.] The streets flood, the electricity goes out, the windows shatter, the roof blows off. People lose everything and sometimes even lose their lives because of the power of the wind.
How stupid for anyone of us to go down to Nawlins and look into the waters and say, “Katrina! Go Away!” 150 mph winds. When the storm blew your chonies up over your ears, then you’dve wished you were in a shelter like everyone else with any sense!
Only One commanded the Wind – Christ! Nobody done it since. Our prayers might persuade the Almighty to change the direction of a storm, or bring rain; but the wind is not controlled by any man!
Nobody bosses the wind; no man bosses the Spirit of God.
I can preach all day, but I am totally dependent on the Lord for the anointing. If don’t have a leash. I don’t command. All I can do is preach the truth and trust He will move in and do what needs to be done.
The wind can’t be seen. You can see the after-effects of it thought.
The wind is unpredictable. You don’t know what direction it will take.
The Holy Ghost comes when He wants. At church, at home, in the car, on the job – just about the time you think you got away from Him, He’ll find you again. Unpredictable.
He cant be conquered. He overpowers everything. An awesome source of power. When we get Spiritual - nothing can overpower us.
Just Look what the Wind blew in!
1. When it comes to Conviction – Salvation is more than a mental condition. More than believing in your head. It takes a divine revelation by the Spirit to believe and receive unto salvation.
By the Spirit God can send conviction so the scales will fall from our eyes so we know we broke the Law and bring us to repentance. With this we join the Family of God!
We are all here because of two seeds coming together – that of your mother and your father. Spiritually, the Word and the Spirit have come together in your life and VOILA – the NEW BIRTH!
We might get folks to crying, some come and pray, get baptized and maybe tithe – but until they are moved on by the Holy Ghost through conviction – they then get hungry and thirsty and won’t rest until they are cleansed by the blood of the Lamb.
Genesis – The first time the wind blew – chapter 8
” And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;
8:2 The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;
8:3 And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.”
When God needed to move the waters of Judgment away so new life could blossom and bloom – He sent the wind!
That ark was a type of Jesus – They were saved, and alive, but there wasn’t new life until that wind began to blow!
When a sinner is living w/o God – he is condemned! He is w/o God, and unless the Holy Ghost comes by and blows away the judgment – he will die lost and wind up in Hell.
But let the wind blow in, by the power of conviction! Salvation!
Remember when the angel came to Mary and said you will bear the Son of God? Christ in you, the hope of Glory! Christ was never inside Mary until she was overshadowed by the Holy Ghost!
So many in the church – religious; but not living the abundant life Jesus desires them to live by God through the Holy Ghost!
[Polar Bear – back in the arms of his father – One day long ago, man broke away from God. Lost, and started drifting away. No direction and scared. But one day God send His Holy Ghost swooping down.
Well, I started running, not realizing I was running from the best thing in the universe. Then, bam, one day the Good Lord popped me with the word, mixed with conviction and I’m not sure how it all happened, but before I knew it I was back in the arms of my Heavenly Father, safe, and it’s like I never left.
It will blow in CLEANSING.
Psalms 1:3-4, ‘Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
1:4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.’
God sends the Wind to drive things away from us that aren’t good for us.
Chaff – Wheat beater. Ran over by oxen. Winnowed. God has a great process for us too. Beat up by trials, Ran over by the Word. Everything unfruitful, unrighteous and unclean separated.
Central Air – filter. Catches impurities so the unit runs clean. Filter is important for longevity. Know why some of us are about to burn out, break down, and blow up? Because we will not let God filter our lives through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Blown into Church.
Acts 2 ‘And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.’
Jesus instructed ‘don’t leave until empowered.’ Anyone born again will naturally have a desire to be faithful to the church. That’s where the wind is. When folks get right with God they will always end up in church.
Peter and John threatened, beaten, then released went unto their ‘own company’.
For those born of the water and the Spirit, church isn’t just part of their lives; it IS their life. Everything else revolves around the fact that church is the heartbeat of your Christianity.
You start skipping church – you’re headed for trouble, headed for the world, headed for judgment.
Look what the wind blew in! It blows in a Calling!
I didn’t surrender to preach. I didn’t get in for the money. The Spirit calls. JONAH – a great wind.
Matt 14 – Another Chance. Peter did fall. Don’t judge him yet. He still holds the walking on water record. There were 11 others in the boat who didn’t even try.
I’d rather mess up trying to do something for Jesus than sit in the boat running my mouth, not doing anything.
As long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, he did fine! The same with us.
A storm and a wind came. Tempestuous. This shows you can’t look at the situation and the Savior at the same time. If you find yourself going under; it’s because your eyes are on the wrong thing!
“Lord, save me!” – He did! Another chance!
Look what the wind blew in!
