When Paul wrote to the churches in Galatia about his concerns he described the people as being "foolish." He also questioned whether they had been bewitched. It is not far-fetched to sometimes describe a person’s action or decision as being foolish. It is a fact that people make decisions in life that can be regarded as lacking rationale. It is also not unusual at one time or another for a man or woman to make a judgment that is viewed as unwise, absurd or even ridiculous. Intelligent people also make foolish choices.
There is a difference between a person that is bewitched and a person exhibiting folly. If a person is under bewitchment, such a person is under a powerful influence or strong fascination as in the case of a spell or a charm. Sadly, a person under this influence has already been led astray by this charming misrepresentation.
Paul found it astonishing that the Galatians, even though before them Jesus Christ died and rose up from the dead, they still believed in Jewish traditions such as circumcision. They had turned their focus back to Jewish values instead of following Christ.
Paul also found it difficult to understand why these people were swaying in their new identity in Christ and therefore concluded that they were behaving foolishly because somebody or someone had bewitched them. Paul said:
“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you”?
(Galatians 3:1)
The essence of this message is bewitchment. Is bewitchment real? Is it possible for someone to "bewitch" and "befool" us by sorcery or witchcraft?
In a town not too far from where I grew up, there was a local cobbler. He was good at his job which was mending shoes. This man was not only ugly, but very short and with a humpback. As a shoemaker, he was not making a lot of money. He was a poor man and nobody could really explain why this dwarf had a wife that was fair, tall and very pretty. A much closed source to this man eventually disclosed that this man’s wife was indeed one of his customers.
It was rumoured that this cobbler fell in love with his beautiful customer. Unfortunately for this man, the feeling was not mutual. The shoemaker, supposedly, then sought witchcraft as an aid. He obtained a charm which he put into her shoes that he was repairing for her. The rest is history. She was instantly bewitched and married her shoe maker.
Many people are under the influence of evil charms and incantations. They have been affected injuriously by witchcraft. The enemies have cast spells over many, thereby bringing evil upon them; it is a terrible thing for someone to be subjected to the power of witchcraft. A lot of people cannot explain their situations and some of their actions; however, they are under the domination and hypnotism of evil forces.
Unfortunately, those that are misled and enslaved through demonic influences hardly realise their predicament. There are also a lot of people who are hindered from progressing or advancing by the enemy. Regrettably, some of these individuals have accepted their fate as the will of God.
There is an interesting story of an encounter in the bible between the power of Almighty God and the power of sorcery and bewitchment. An apostles of Jesus Christ called Phillip was in the city named Samaria preaching the gospel. The power of God accompanied his ministrations and many captives were set free. There was a certain man in this city, for whom the people had great regard. This was because this man had for a long time, bewitched them with sorceries. In fact it was believed that his power was from God! Read this scripture:
“Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
And there was great joy in that city.
But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done”.
Acts 8:4-13.
Bewitchment is real. This can be argued because the people of Samaria could not make a distinction between the power of God and sorcery. They had been manipulated for a long time by this power. It is amazing that a lot of people are still unable to discern between the powers of good and evil. To the people of Samaria, the sorcerer called Simon was “a man of God.” They had followed him for years. There are many “men and women of God” out there, that are still bewitching ignorant and blind Christians. Folly is thinking that the power of sorcery is the power of God.
It is astonishing that a whole city can be bewitched! This illustrates how powerful the authority and influence of bewitchment can be. A real child of God, a believer of Jesus Christ, should be ready and prepared to battle against the powers of bewitchment. There is an assurance in the “word” that the power of God overcomes the power of sorcery and bewitchment. Read this assurance:
“Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!”
Numbers 23:23.
There are a number of instances of witchcraft manipulations in the scripture. Adam was enchanted by Satan through his wife and they continued to live their lives under satanic influence.
Herodias the evil queen influenced King Herod in beheading John the Baptist. This was also a powerful evil attraction. Delilah, the wife of Samson bewitched him to tell her the secret of his power and she betrayed him to his enemies.
The Witch of Endor charmed King Saul and aided in bringing his reign to a tragic end, as the king was swayed from seeking help from the true God into enquiring from the powers of darkness. Also, Ahaz the king of Israel also offered human sacrifices to the devil. This King even sacrificed his own son in 2 Kings 16 and 2 Chronicles 28. Thus, another individual under serious evil control.
One can never forget Jezebel, the mother of all bewitchment practitioners, the enemy of righteousness. She was an evil woman who fought against everything that represented God. Jezebel’s domination of her husband was the root cause of Israel falling into idolatry worship.
In the book of 2 Kings 11, Athaliah killed her grandchildren and bewitched the entire kingdom of Judah for six years until Jehoiada the High priest came to the rescue. If you have read and understood the whole story, you will strong how powerful the power of bewitchment is. The devil’s plot was to rid Judah of any descendant of David thereby, thwarting God’s plan to bring forth a Messiah who is and was God. As promised the Messiah came through the seed of David.
Who hath bewitched you? Anything or anybody can be bewitched. A lot of people are being bewitched daily and there are no age limits. Children, adults and even the aged are being bewitched! If a 75 year old man could be caught in adultery with a woman in her early twenties, then no one is excluded!
Virtues can be bewitched. Some men are now incapable of functioning as males in copulation as the powers of darkness are dealing with them. Also a lot of women are incapable of having their own children as a result of bewitchment and witchcraft powers.
Pregnancies have been for a long time a target of bewitchment. A pregnant lady once told me that she got confirmation that she was having twins from some strange woman in the dream. This woman in the dream told her, “...there are twins in your womb, and I’m taking one of them.”
If it were possible to take the statistics of those that have died as a result of food and drink poisoning by witchcraft powers, it would be alarming. I also lost a close relative who was poisoned in the dream. That is why; bewitchment and sorcery must die in Jesus name.
Clothes and shoes are common objects of bewitchments. The beautiful woman that married the ugly cobbler consented under bewitchment. A number of people are afraid because their clothes and underwear are in evil hands. If you are in this situation, the fire of God will roast these materials in the name of Jesus. The evil one will not be able to perform his enterprise against you in the name of Jesus.
Domestic animals can be bewitched, so that they turn against their owners. Some people have been killed by their pets because they were bewitched against them. A number of people move from one house to another because they feel the houses are hunted. There is a lady that stays in a new apartment for an average of six months because she believes creeping things keep monitoring her life to play havoc, so she continues to move.
An individual’s businesses and source of income are often targeted by bewitching powers in order to frustrate their lives. Vehicles can be bewitched to become a source of devourer or an evil cauldron to the owners.
The land was bewitched in the story of the barber. Anything can be bewitched. Marriages are constantly subjected to satanic attacks. With the flimsiest excuse many have divorced their spouse.
Money is an object of bewitchment. A man complained sometime ago, that he earned a fantastic salary but his money, never lasted till the end of the month. This man was a born again Christian and he was not an extravagant spender. He did however; confess that during the days before he was a Christian, he had visited a herbalist for solutions to the problems in his life. The herbalist, amongst the many things he did for him, drew the shape of his two hands on a sheet of paper and kept it! Even though he is now born again, he still had to be delivered from the effect of this evil act.
If it was not possible for a destiny to be destroyed, wicked powers would not have tried to terminate the life of Jesus Christ. A woman that was happily married with lovely children one day thought of ending it all because she was under the influence of strange voices! Bewitchment is real, who hath bewitched you?
Politicians and world leaders have made the silliest comments that have removed them from offices, and for some, they had to pay for it with their lives.
Thus, who hath bewitched you? A man travelled abroad to study and improved his status and that of his family who supported him in his studies. He spent four years working hard in the pursuit of his goal. However, a week before his final examinations he gave up, packed his bags and travelled back home! Why would he have done this? Bewitchment of course!
When I was a child, we had a neighbour whom I often wondered about. He used to send us on errands and we never got a tip. However, he was diligent in a particular area. Every night he would go out drinking and he always returned home drunk. We often waited up till late for him to return because he would empty all the money in his wallet out to all of us, no matter how much he had.
A life without divine control is a bewitched life. One’s life should not follow satanic agenda. It is the enemy’s desire for individuals to live a life without direction. The steps and life of the righteous should not follow satanic direction.
If you are under any form of addiction you will need to pray. Sexual addiction is a powerful weapon used by the wicked to destroy many lives and marriages. A minority of men of God have turned their counselling rooms into immoral joints. Many lives have been destroyed in these so called counselling rooms. Food addiction is also another gateway to destruction.
People who have problems controlling their appetite in the physical will have little or no resistance consuming poisoned food in their dreams. It is also not surprising that a lot of people find it difficult to give up their destructive habits such as drinking and smoking because the devil enforces the harmful desires.
Suicidal tendencies are now an epidemic. A number of lives are under this powerful influence of bewitchment. It is never an easy task to resist the strong fascination of bewitchment. The overwhelming power of an evil spell or charm is hard to shake off. One needs the empowerment to fight for freedom. With the spirit of “enough is enough” one can be empowered for deliverance. The Lord honours his word. The Lord says that there is no enchantment or any divination against you, for the Lord shall summon His mighty power in your situation and your enemy shall be disgraced.
If your life does not seem to be fulfilling the divine agenda you need to pray. Your life must not follow satanic calendar. If you know your life has been stagnant, then you should take the battle to the enemy. You must reject the power of bewitchment. Satanic control must die in your life. It is a matter of urgency for one to be rescued from these evil powers.
If the great apostle Paul could say to his Thessalonians brethren “Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us” (1 Thessalonians 2:18), the opposition cannot be underestimated. The power of bewitchment requires violent prayers for it to be destroyed.
Therefore, I will ask again who hath bewitched you? You need to set aside some time to cry out to the Lord. You must fulfil your days on earth for it is the promise of God for your life. The power of bewitchment is the power that ultimately destroys a life. You are encouraged to pray violently for seven consecutive nights so that the deliverance that comes in the name of Jesus and the freedom by the power in the blood of Jesus can manifest in your life. Hence, victory is sure.

2. Blood of Jesus cancel any charm, spell, hex and jinx working against my life in the name of Jesus.
3. I break by fire the effect of any voodoo working against my life in the name of Jesus.
