The Battle of Armageddon
Revelation 19: 17-21
This is the final battle of human history. The end has come. The day of Jehovah has arrived.
Vs. 17-18 The supper call of the Great God.
This call to supper is different from the “Marriage Supper of the Lamb” where those who believe on Jesus are called to supper.
Who is called to this supper? The ungodly Mickey Mouse club fowl of the air.
You could say that the ungodly and evil are called to this supper but they will not be the ones who get to eat.
I like to watch “Discovery channel” “Nation Geographic” And to watch a group of vultures consume a carcass is not a pretty sight. Imagine every bird left in the world soaring over the battle ground, some sitting in the trees watching and waiting for the bodies to fall. Waiting for their turn to eat.
Will this really happen?

Ezk. 39: 1-8 "And you, son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, ’Thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, [fn] Meshech, and Tubal;
and I will turn you around and lead you on, bringing you up from the far north, and bring you against the mountains of Israel.
Then I will knock the bow out of your left hand, and cause the arrows to fall out of your right hand.
You shall fall upon the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and the peoples who are with you; I will give you to birds of prey of every sort and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
You shall fall on the open field; for I have spoken," says the Lord GOD.
And I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in security in the coastlands. Then they shall know that I am the LORD.
So I will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel, and I will not let them profane My holy name anymore. Then the nations shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
Surely it is coming, and it shall be done," says the Lord GOD. "This is the day of which I have spoken.
Ezk 39: 17-20"And as for you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD, ’Speak to every sort of bird and to every beast of the field: "Assemble yourselves and come; Gather together from all sides to My sacrificial meal Which I am sacrificing for you, A great sacrificial meal on the mountains of Israel, That you may eat flesh and drink blood.
You shall eat the flesh of the mighty, Drink the blood of the princes of the earth, Of rams and lambs, Of goats and bulls, All of them fatlings of Bashan.
You shall eat fat till you are full, And drink blood till you are drunk, At My sacrificial meal Which I am sacrificing for you.
You shall be filled at My table With horses and riders, With mighty men And with all the men of war," says the Lord GOD.
V. 19 The armies of the world gather in one place.
List some of the people who are to be there. The antichrist, Kings or leaders of the earth, the armies of the nations will be there. The kings or leaders may be busy trying keep the battle focused on the object of attack, which is Jesus and not each other.
Why has every army of the world gathered in one place? Verse 19 says that they have come to make war against the One on the white horse.
How did they all get there?
Rev 16:12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared.
Why?
Joel 3:9-16 “Proclaim this among the nations: "Prepare for war! Wake up the mighty men, Let all the men of war draw near, Let them come up.
Beat your plowshares into swords And your pruning hooks into spears; Let the weak say, ’I [am] strong.’ "
Assemble and come, all you nations, And gather together all around. Cause Your mighty ones to go down there, O LORD.
Let the nations be wakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; For there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations.
Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, go down; For the winepress is full, The vats overflow-- For their wickedness [is] great."
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD [is] near in the valley of decision.
The sun and moon will grow dark, And the stars will diminish their brightness.
The LORD also will roar from Zion, And utter His voice from Jerusalem; The heavens and earth will shake; But the LORD will be a shelter for His people, And the strength of the children of Israel.”
Zep 3:8 "Therefore wait for Me," says the LORD, "Until the day I rise up for plunder; [fn] My determination [is] to gather the nations To My assembly of kingdoms, To pour on them My indignation, All My fierce anger; All the earth shall be devoured With the fire of My jealousy.”
Zec 12:9 “It shall be in that day [that] I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.”
Who is leading them?
Rev 12:9 “So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
Rev 16:13-14 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs [coming] out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, [which] go out to the kings of the earth and [fn] of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.”
V. 20 The antichrist and the false prophet will be immediately captured.
2Th. 2: 8 tells us exactly what will happen to the antichrist.
2Th 2:8 “And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.”
The Lord will slay the antichrist with the Spirit of His mouth. The Greek word here is breath.
When Jesus speaks, He will speak the word of God, which is truth, holiness and unlimited in power.
Notice that there will be no physical confrontation. Jesus will simply speak and the Word of Truth and that will be all that is needed to destroy the antichrist.
Isa 11:4 “But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.”
The Lord will destroy the antichrist with the brightness of His coming. Someone noted that when Jesus returns, there will be such a spectacular display of His glory that the explosion of every star in the universe could not match the sight of His return.
Notice in verse 20 that he judgment will be horrifying for the antichrist and the false prophet.
They will both be immediately:
forced to listen to me sing sent to their rooms with no supper thrown into the lake of fire
The lake of fire or Gehenna is the place where all those who rebel against God will be cast at the end of the world.

Mat 13:41-42 “The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness,
and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
Mat 18:8 "If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast [it] from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.”

V. 21 The weapon the Lord uses to slay the enemy will be a Sword that comes from His mouth.
Will this be a physical sword? __YES __NO
The only weapon He needs is the truth of His Word.
Hbr 4:12 “For the word of God [is] living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Eph 6:17 “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;”
