How to overcome our Fear
Psalm 112
2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
This psalm depicts the life of the believer we his/her priorities are in order
I. It begins with relationship
You have to begin at the beginning
Here is how most of us are living, when times are tough we want to run to our favorite passage for some encouragement
Phil. 4 I can do all things
I am the head not the tail
The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want
We’ve got is backwards we do not run when trouble comes, when trouble comes we should be there already
Look at the psalm
In verse 1 before trouble comes
He reverences the lord,
His reverence leads to regular worship
Regular communion and fellowship
He delights in His commandments
That leads to intelligent worship
He delights in God’s promises, in his precepts, and is happy under God’s government as well as in his favor.

His Family life 2-3
His home is blessed
His children will be respected and have influence in the community
His children will be blessed
He will live comfortably; he will have enough and then some
His Public Life 4-5, 9
A careful reading of verse four says the righteous is a light in the darkness
Those who fear God bring light to dark places, a source of strength, hope and encouragement
He is gracious, merciful, righteous and just in his affairs.
He is a channel of blessings, He gives freely, he lends and distributes to the poor
His Private/Personal Life 7-8
Trouble comes to every house
The difference in each house is how we respond to the trouble
He is not even troubled by bad news
Matthew Henry It is the duty and interest of the people of God not to be afraid of evil tidings, not to be afraid of hearing bad news; and, when we do, not to be put into confusion by it and into an amazing expectation of worse and worse, but whatever happens, whatever threatens, to be able to say, with blessed Paul, None of these things move me, neither will I fear, though the earth be removed
When he faces trouble he is not moved, he is not fearful because his heart is firm and steady
A fixed heart is based on the relationship in verse 1
When we gave ourselves to Christ, we gave Him our person, our estate, our friends, and everything.
He realizes that even in the face of loss God is
It is a good thing every morning to give all up to God, and then to live through the day, and thank Him for renewing the daily lease.
Why? Because he trusts in the Lord
The firm or fixed heart is the secret to His courage
The fixed heart is a sovereign remedy against the disquieting fear of evil tidings.
This kind of life brings lasting security which can face “evil tidings” or misfortune, because it is a security firmly grounded in trust in the Lord.
By faith we must cast anchor in the promise, in the word of God, and so return to him and repose in him as our rest.
The heart of man cannot be satisfied anywhere but in the truth of God, and that’s his foundation.
