To Die is gain
Phil. 1:21
When the Apostle Paul wrote this letter to the church in Phillipi, the circumstances of his life weren’t exactly ideal.
He was in prison—under house arrest by Rome, chained to a Roman soldier and yet this entire letter shouts with triumph. It is filled with words of joy and rejoicing.
We have known people who have lived the last years of their life a prisoner in a body that was filled with sickness and yet they never complain. And even seemed to show joy and to rejoice even in their affliction.
To those who do not believe in God. Life on earth is the best there is!
For the non—christian, it is only natural to strive for the world’s values.. Money; Popularjty; Power and Prestige.
For the Christian it is differant.. .To die is to gain! What do we gain?
1-We gain a better body, a glorified body, a resurrected body.
In this present body of clay we are subject to all the sorrows and tears that life has to offer.
Age, sickness, and finally death are what is in store for this body of clay!
But in death for the believer, we gain a better body, one that cannot grow old, that will never know diseases, will never suffer pain and will never die again!
2—We gain a better home!
However beautiful and big our house may be that we possess in th&s world, it is nothing compared to the mansion that God has for believers.
Nothing we possess in this world can compare to what God has for us in the next world!
God’s promise to us in His word.
John 14:1-3—Let not your heart bE troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and recieve you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
