IT IS WRITTEN!

This sermon outline lists a few of the "It is written" phase that is used out of the 80 times that is found in the KJV of the Bible. We have chosen only the New Testament verses for this outline. It points out the importance of having the Word of God in out hearts and lives. We need to live by the Word and we must act the Word. Then we will live and walk the walk of faith. If Jesus and the apostles used the Word of God, how much more we need to do so in our daily lives when we are faced with temptation, mountains, problems and need of direction in our lives.

I. During the time of facing temptation in our lives.

A. Jesus told the devil directly. (Mat 4:7 KJV) Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

1. We must not serve any idols in our lives.

(Luke 4:8 KJV) And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

a. Anything that we do, love and desire that keeps us from the Lord can be an idol.

b. Jesus points out again the importance of the Word to have victory. We need to live by the Word.

(Luke 4:4 KJV) And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

c. We need to know the whole Word of God as Satan distorted the Word by using only part of it or twisting the Word. Here he only quotes part of the promise. Luke 4:10 KJV) For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

1. This is why there are false cults and false doctrines.

2. They will twist or pervert the Word.

d. Here Jesus answered with (Mat 4:7 KJV) Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

II. Jesus tells us He came to earth to do the Will and Promise of the Father.

(Heb 10:7 KJV) Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

III. It was written of the ministry of John the Baptist.

(Mat 11:10 KJV) For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

A. John came to prepare for the ministry of Jesus.

B. We need to prepare the world with preaching and living the Word to prepare for the Second Coming of Christ.

IV. Paul tells us of the reason for the Cross was written.

(Gal 3:13 KJV) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

A. He redeemed us from the curse.

B. He became a curse.

V. Jesus tells us what the condition of our churches should be and what it should be called.

(Mat 21:13 KJV) And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

A. My wife and I have personally planted 66 churches in the former USSR. The new believers named most of them the ’House of Prayer’.

1. They call most of their churches ’House of Prayer’.

2. We need a call to holiness,

(1 Pet 1:16 KJV) Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

B. We need to know that there are no righteous. (Rom 3:10 KJV) As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

C. God wants us to grow in His Word and to use it in our daily lives.

(Rom 1:17 KJV) For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

VI. The Word tells us how wonderful the message is and what it will do for people who go and those that hear.

(Rom 10:15 KJV) And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

VII. When all of the battle is over and on that great day, it will be fulfilled what was written.

(Rom 14:11 KJV) For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

A. What a great day that will be.

(1 Cor 2:9 KJV) But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

B. Let us prepare ourselves.

1. How? First by putting the Word in our hearts, minds and mouths.

Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

2. Live what is written.

Let us hear, believe and act upon the Word of God.

What A Day That Will Be

Words and Music by Jim Hill

Mark 14:62

"And Jesus said, I AM:

and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power,

and coming in the clouds of heaven."

There is coming a day when no heartaches shall come

No more clouds in the sky, no more tears to dim the eye.

All is peace forevermore on that happy golden shore,

What a day, glorious day that will be.

Chorus

What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see,

And I look upon His face,

The One who saved me by His grace;

When He takes me by the hand

And leads me through the Promised Land,

What a day, glorious day that will be.

There’ll be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear,

No more sickness, no pain, no more parting over there;

And forever I will be with the One who died for me,

What a day, glorious day that will be.
