Joh 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin (hamartanō sin meaning to miss the mark) no more, lest a worse thing befall thee.
Protecting our teeth is very important. A cavity starts out very small, so small in fact that it is microscopic. A cavity is caused by eating sweets, strong acidic products like soda or Lucas powder (sour salts). Cavities are also caused by people not brushing and flossing, as they should.
Sin starts out small and is caused by us doing something we should not do, lust like a cavity.
Yes, we might like eating lucas, or lots of sweets, or drinking sodas even though we know that this can causes cavities.
A cavity grows larger and will start making the tooth hurt if it is not treated. Eventually the tooth will get infected and if left untreated will have to be pulled. The bacteria that lead to tooth decay can also cause heart problems and other health issues. Eating Lucas can literally eat away the teeth of its Addicts . Sweets and sodas can lead to weight gain, diabetes and heart attacks.
Hatred, anger, envy, greed and lust are the cavities of sin. These cavities eat away at our heart and soul destroying us the same way a cavity destroys a tooth. The same way that brushing an flossing help destroy the bacteria that attack our teeth, confessing our sins and having a close loving relationship with Jesus cleans away the bacteria that damage our body and soul.
You see sin does have physical consequences and not just spiritual consequences. Anger, hatred and un-forgiveness can eventually manifest in your body by causing high blood pressure, heart attacks, stroke and cancer. This has been proven time and time again.
So what do we do?
Joh 13:5-10 Then he poureth water into the basin, and began to wash (nipto – to cleanse) the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
So he cometh to Simon Peter. He saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt understand hereafter.
Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part (meiromai- a selection or allotment) with me (meta emou).
Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
Jesus saith to him, He that is bathed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
1Jn 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you that ye may not sin (hamartanō mē: or sin not do not miss the mark). And if any man sin, we have an Advocate (paraklētos – comforter , intercessor, counselor) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
