Like A Rattler
Psalm 140:1-7
1 Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;
2 Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.
3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah.
4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.
5 The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.
6 I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.
7 O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.
I have entitled this today: “Like A Rattler”
This is a prayer by David for deliverance from his enemies.
David says in verse one: Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;
The evil man and the violent man can pertain to the Pharisees and the Sadduccee with their snares, nets that they tried to lay out for Jesus.
David always had enemies because the enemy of his soul was always out to take him down.
These enemies, at times, would lay snares and traps with the intention of destruction.
Satan will try to lay snares and traps for us, but we have to be watching for these stumbling blocks that he places in front of us.
David’s enemies would imagine mishiefs in their hearts and continually they are gathered for war.
Satan and his imps are out and they are continually at war with our soul.
Psalm 140:3
3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders’ poison is under their lips.
All of these statements pertain to the religious elite of Israel at the time of Christ; Satan’s greatest effort is from within the church.
We have people, in the church that all they do is gripe and complain, and look for every fault that everyone has.
I don’t know if you know this or not, you are not perfect, and you have faults also.
James 3:2-12
2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
3 Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! {a matter: or, wood}
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
Satan has every intention to overthrow you; he wants to stop the mission of Christ, the Lord alone is our help.
Ps 50:15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
Ps 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Ps 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
In Psalms 140:5 it says: The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.
The Pharisees and the Sadduccees and their followers are called the proud. All religion has pride as its foundation; this pride always produces self-rightousness.
David’s defense was God, just like He is our defense.
Jesus defense was His Heavenly Father, just like He is mine.
Psalm 140:7
7 O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.
Jesus attributed to His Father the source of all His strength, as well as the horror of Calvary.
His head (headship) was covered and protected by the Heavenly Father, while the head of the enemy was uncovered and thereby bruised.
Genesis 3:15
Ge 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
I have entitled this today “Like A Rattler”, and here is the reason why:
Dream 7-14-09
I dreamed that I was in pond or a lake, a body of water. I felt something wrap around my leg. I took my hand and I pulled what was wrapped around my leg out of the water. It was a baby snake. I didn’t know what kind of snake that it was. I then heard and I saw the rattlers. I knew it was a rattlesnake. It had bitten me. I was waiting to see what would happen next. I knew that I could die.
Interpretation
Waters means a move of the Holy Spirit
Something wrapped around my leg-something that could affect where God is taking me.
Baby snake-Does not seem that bad, but the snake will get bigger if I don’t do something about it.
Song 2:15 Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.
I did not know what kind of snake that it was; we need to know who the enemy is and defeat him.
I heard and then saw the rattlers, rattlers mean: evil words against the dreamer.
The enemy is trying to stop this dreamer!
We live in a day of dreams, visions and prophecy.
Are we speaking badly of someone and their dreams?
If God is the One who has given the dream, then maybe we would be better just to be quiet about them.
James 2:5-6

If we are a chossen generation and a royal Priesthood, should I be talking about another Saint of God?
1Sa 24:6 And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD’S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.
David, who was on the run from Saul, would stretch forth his hand against the Lord’s Anointed.
Joh 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
Christians, we are not to act like the world!
Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
He has chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, we are to be Holy and without blame.
1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
God is on the move and I want to go with the flow of His Spirit.
Is there a rattler wrapped around your leg and maybe you don’t even realize that it is there?
Is someone coming against the dreams that God has given you?
Church, it is time to recognize what, who and how Satan is trying to work in our lives.
In the dream I was bitten and I was waiting to see what happened.
Maybe God is telling me that there are people talking about me and my dreams that God has given me.
Maybe they will try to cause damage in this church. I don’t know, but what I do know is God will help me in my day of trouble.
Job 33:14-18
14 For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
16 Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
17 That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
18 He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
Closing
Is the rattler coming aginst you?
Stand upon the Word of God and be not moved!
Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
