Revelation 20
Title: “The Score Will Be Settled”
Theme: Resurrection, Judgment, the Millennium and Beyond
Text: “And I saw thrones…” (Revelation 20:4)
I. And I saw and angel come down from heaven (v.1-3)
A. Having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand
B. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan
C. And bound him one thousand years
D. And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him
E. That he should deceive the nations no more
F. Till the thousand years be fulfilled
G. And after that he must be loosed a little season
II. And I saw thrones (v.4a)
A. And they that sat upon them (Twelve Apostles-Matthew 19:28; Luke 22:30)
B. And judgment was given unto them
III. And I saw the souls of them that were beheaded (v.4b-6)
A. For the witness of Jesus
B. And for the Word of God
C. Who had not worshipped the beast
1. Neither his image
2. Neither had received his mark upon their foreheads
3. Neither had received his mark in their hand
D. They lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years
E. But the rest of the dead [the wicked] lived not again until the thousand years were finished
F. This is the First Resurrection:
1. Part One: Christ the Firstfruits (I Corinthians 15:20)
2. Part Two: They that are Christ’s at His Coming/Rapture (I Corinthians 15:23, 51, 52; I Thessalonians 4:13-18)
3. Part Three: The beheaded martyrs/70th Week Saints/Day of the Lord Saints (Revelation 20:4-6; Daniel 12:3)
4. Part Four: The Millennial Saints (Isaiah 65:20)
G. Blessed and holy is he that has part in the First Resurrection:
1. On such the Second Death has no power
2. But they shall be priests of God and of Christ
4. And shall reign with Him a thousand years
IV. And when the thousand years are expired (v.7-10)
A. Satan shall be loosed out of his prison
B. And shall go our to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth
1. Gog and Magog [Prophetic/Biblical Title given to rebellious Gentile nations]
2. To gather them together to battle the number of whom is as the sand of the sea
3. And they went up on the breadth of the earth
4. And compassed the camp of the saints about and the beloved city [Jerusalem]
5. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them
C. And the devil that deceived them
1. Was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone
2. Where the beast and the false prophet are
3. And shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever
V. And I saw a Great White Throne and Him that sat on it (v.11-15)
A. From Whose face the earth and heaven fled away
B. And there was found no place for them
C. And I saw the dead small and great stand before God
1. And the books were opened
2. And another book was opened which is the Book of Life
3. And the dead were judged our of those things which were written in the books according to their works
4. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it
5. And death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them
6. And they were judged every man according to their works
VI. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire
A. This is the Second Death
B. And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire
