The Life of Moses pt. 2

Exodus 3:10-22 Read & Pray
Moses couldn’t believe his ears; God Himself was asking him to return to Egypt and demand the release of the entire Hebrew nation. He was to stand on the same streets where he had committed murder and demand that this oppressive government release two million slaves who did all the work for the soft, lazy overseers.
This would never work; after all, who was he to stand before the premier of the greatest world power in history and demand anything? He was just Moses, and anyway he had already tried to deliver his people forty years ago, and look where it landed him.
Lessons From the Life of Moses:
#1 He Asked, “Who Am I?” And Was Comforted By The Great I AM
Four decades on the backside of the desert had weakened Moses’ understanding of who he was. He was God’s chosen vessel, protected by the hand of the Almighty when all other male children were being killed.
Yet his life was sparred, and he had been given the benefit of the greatest education known to man, up to that point. Yet in that moment of insignificance, he asked the question Who Am I?
The answer to Moses question had nothing to do with him, but had everything to do with God Himself… “I will be with you” was the response from Heaven. God says I will go with you Moses and when you speak I will speak thru you. What a promise…
The objection of Moses was met with devine assurance that the Great God of the universe was on his side…. and whatever opposition he faced would pale in comparison to the majesty of his Lord.
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us… 2 Cor. 4:7
How often do we as Christians, feel just as overwhelmed as Moses did; just as insignificant and powerless against the forces of evil…
Yet just as God promised to be with Moses, he is with us… Who are you? Your God’s child; now walk in the provision of that blessing…
Have you felt overwhelmed with circumstances lately? embrace the promise of god’s provision for you…
If Moses was going to attempt such an enormous task, he would have to know for sure who was sending him… after all Moses knew what he was going up against… he knew more about the Egyptians that he was being sent to that he knew about the One who was sending him…
In other words Moses knew the streets of Egyptian Kingdom more that he knew the streets of the Kingdom of God…
many people know more about the streets that he have grown up around more than we know the streets of the kingdom of God… we know more about the worldly lifestyles, than we do about the Christian lifestyle that we are called to…
God revealed Himself to Moses in His memorial name to all generations… THE FREAT I AM… the name emphasizes God’s power and self-existance.
the reality of His name to the individual believer is that God is to each person what that person needs at that point in time…
And my God shall supply all my needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
He is the supplier of all good things, and from His hand come life and eternity…
This name indicates that He is sovereign and stands alone as Supreme Ruler of Heaven and Earth… all other so called gods (drugs/religion/fornication) are false and non-existent in the light of eternal truth…
Moses had nothing to fear because the great IAM would be with him, and no man or idol could thwart His powerful hand.
Moses knew the reality of I AM, as did Paul, and Martin Luther, and John Wesley and others who acted on behalf of the God of Heaven. Today, as Christians, we must know personally and act on behalf of the great I AM.
Do you walk with boldness today, or are you shy and apologetic about your relationship with the great I AM? Ask God for the Holy Spirit boldness to act on His behalf.
#2 He Carried An Earthly Staff With Heavenly Power
Exodus 4:1-9
Moses next asked a logical question, “what if they don’t believe me?” he knew the Egyptian mind and how it worked… they only the things that they could see with their eyes…
They would never buy the story of a burning bush and a voice speaking from the flames… the real possibility existed that no one would believe a word that Moses would say, so how was God going to assure him that he would have their undivided attention?
Until the day he died Moses would never forget how God assured him that they would believe…years later, he would close his eyes and see the snake that had once been his staff… he would remember the site of his very hand being stricken with leprosy on moment then cured the next…
Yes Moses learned the lesson of the staff and his God given authority… when he carried the earthly piece of wood in his hand, it represented all the powers of Heaven.
The Nile would turn to blood at the staffs biding, the waters would part at its direction, and the battle would be won against his enemies as it was raised toward Heaven.
The staff was his token of authority from God, to Heaven’s bidding on earth.
Today Christians also have a staff available to them in the powerful name of Jesus, the name that is above all other names in Heaven and on Earth…
Philippians 2:5-11
At His name demons tremble; at his name the earth totters; and at this name wickedness is repelled for the sake of righteousness…
What a shame that so many Christians neglect their staff, or misunderstand their staff, or underestimate their staff. His name gaines us access to the very throne of God, and His name opens the doors to answered prayer.
I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. John 14:12

Though He was Slow of Speech…
#3 He Was A Man Of Power In Words & Deeds
Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action. Acts 7:22
Moses objected to God by claiming that he was slow of speech, yet the bible reveals to us that he was trained in all the knowledge of Egypt, and was a man of power in words and in deeds.
He COULD speak; he was just unwilling to put himself on the firing line. He was gifted but reluctant.
Exodus 4:10-17
To refuse the gift given to you by God is to refuse Kingdom growth…to bury your gift is an offence to the Lord who gave you the gift. to allow fear and intimidation from men to overshadow your calling from Heaven is to accept defeat on every side
Just imagine how the story could have been different, had Moses taken the responsibility of speaking for God to the Egyptians and to his own people. Who knows how different things might have been…
the unfortunate thing about looking back is that it is impossible to change what was. So, the only recourse we have as humans is to walk in obedience the first time around… (listen the first time)_
Matthew 25:14-18
Today every Christian has both the privilege and the responsibility to speak for Heaven. each of us has been given certain gifts from our Heavenly Father, and we must use them to further His Kingdom on this earth.
He has called you to do a job that is unique; only you can accomplish the work for which you have been called…
What is your calling in the Kingdom? are your walking in your gifting?
Have you felt overwhelmed with circumstances lately? embrace the promise of god’s provision for you…
