Jesus Said; “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” “Everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Mark 11:24, Luke 11:10)
Jesus has not yet given to us what we are asking for or what we are praying for, otherwise we would not ask or pray. But we know with certainty that there is the potential that our prayers will be answered. I am sure most if not all of us could tell stories of how prayers have been answered in our lives.
However, there are some things we have received and neither asked nor prayed for. Come with New Birth in Jesus, they are in our DNA, a part of our identity in Christ. Jesus has said; “I give” or “I have given.” Our spiritual DNA has not been loaned to us; Jesus has no plans to take them back. However, many don’t realise they have been given and are asking for them. I want to encourage you to believe, to be certain that you possess what Jesus has given.
We know from previous studies that Jesus has given or sent the Holy Spirit to be our helper in life and ministry.
1. Jesus has given to us a new commandment
John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
Jesus changed the basis of relationship from legalistic religious obedience to love. Real agape love will make the world and your personal world a better place. However, people seem to have an inbuilt desire to war with each other and God.
James 4:4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.
ILL Society of International Law, in London, states that during the last 4,000 years there have been only 268 years of peace in spite of good peace treaties. In the last 3 centuries there have been 286 wars on the continent of Europe alone. J.K. Laney, Marching Orders, p 50.
2. Jesus has given to us His Earthly Peace
I am calling it His earthly peace because so many people live life believing one day they will Rest in Peace. Peace is no good when you are dead. Don’t wait to rest in peace Live in Peace
Jesus said; “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 So, Jesus does not expect us to wait until we get to heaven to live in peace, his peace has been given.
Sometimes people separate ‘peace with God’ and ‘peace of mind.’ Peace with God is a result of Salvation which affects the whole person not just the spirit. As Christians we can live with peace of mind while others are anxious.
(Eph. 2:14-18, Romans 5:1, Isaiah 26:3,4, Philippians 4:6-9, James 3:13-18. Jeremiah 29:1-7)
3. Jesus has given us the Word of God
John 17:14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.
Let’s not think about the word of God as the letters and words in the Bible, the Bible contains the pronouncements of God over us, the promises and the plans God has for us. The Bible is not words about God it’s the Word from God to us.
When read;
1. Ps 91:9,10 - Because you have made the LORD your refuge, the Most High your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, no scourge come near your tent. This is the word for our lives.
2. Ps 121:5-8, The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun will not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time and forevermore. This is the word for our lives.
3. Mark 16:17-18 These signs shall accompany those who believe: in my name they shall cast out demons, they shall speak with new tongues. They shall pick up serpents. And if they drink any deadly poison, it shall not hurt them. They shall lay their hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This is the word for our lives.
4. Jesus has given us His Glory
John 17:22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one:
The glory is not unity; unity is the outcome or manifestation of His glory. Modern ecumenical church movements work hard for unity often without Jesus. Often sidelining Jesus and some even put the Islamic god Allah, and Hindu gods on equal footing with Jesus. (Due 32:39, 1Kig 8:23, 1Cor 8:3-5)
Nowhere in the Bible do we read the “The Glory of the Lord IS…….” As no clear cut definition can be found, yet mention of the Glory of God can be found all over the Bible.
People seemed to know what it was and where it was. When God appeared in Fire & Cloud and filled the Tabernacle with his glory, Moses didn’t say “What is this?” (Exo 15, 40)
Some times the Glory of God is better “felt than telt.” The Glory of God is the presence of His perfect nature.
So it is possible to feel perfect JOY, LOVE, PEACE and UNITY in a place because the presence of the Lord is there binding us together in the same way that Jesus and the Father are one.
Glory of God sometimes came with the visible signs, here with angels, and the pillar of cloud and fire.
Some times we go all mystic about the glory of the Lord, making it unreachable and unobtainable.
We sometimes speak of the Shekinah glory, shekinah means to dwell, to be present.
God chose to and kept asking to shekinah with his people, in a Tabernacle, in an Ark and in a Temple.
Jesus is the shekinah of God John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Hebrews 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
That Glory of God which we sometimes make unreachable is in you and with you, Jn 17:22 Jesus said "And the glory which Thou hast given Me I have given to them; that they may be one, just as We are one."
You Carry the Glory of God, Jesus clearly promised he would never leave you. When we are together in his name, he is always there.
The big question and message here is Do we Reveal the Glory of God that Jesus has given to us? Do we carry the Joy, Love, Peace and Unity of the Lord?
(1John 3:2, 2 Cor 3:18, Heb 12:10, 2 Peter 1:4)
5. Jesus has given us Authority
Luke 10:19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
The focus is often on overcoming the Devil, often an unhealthy focus because too much time is given to talking to the Devil and Demons. When we read this in its context (Luke 10:17-20) we see Jesus correcting the impure joy of the disciples who rejoiced that demons would flee from them. It is fact not fiction that demons cannot harm us if we submit to God. (Jam 4:7) The poison of the snake that is Satan and the sting of death can be overcome by us because Jesus has given authority. But to find gratification in power over demons is far from what Jesus wants us to rejoice over.
Luke 10:20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." Everything is temporal except our eternal destiny.
6. Jesus has given to us Eternal Security
John 4:14 but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."
Whatever Satan may do or say about God’s Salvation, to temp you to doubt or drift and follow Jesus at a distance remember Jesus says; “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.” John 10:28
What Jesus has given to us is our spiritual identity. We are people who possess Peace, Glory, Word, Authority and Security, they not things we need to go in search of. We possess them as part of our spiritual birth. In other words we are born again with the Peace, Glory, Word, Authority and Security of God in our lives
Using lies and deception, Satan aims to rob us of the Peace, Glory, Word, Authority and Security that Jesus has given to us.
Lies and deceptions are exposed when we speak the truth, lets tell the truth about ourselves Jesus has given to us His Peace, Glory, Word, Authority and Security.
Lies and deceptions are exposed when we live the truth. Lets lives out who we are people born again with the Peace, Glory, Word, Authority and Security of God in our lives
