I don’t know if you are familiar with watchman nee’s book, “Sit,walk, and stand.”
In this book, he notes how a Christian must start his journey with Christ by sitting--resting alongside the Savior who has done all the work. And because Christ has done all the work, the Christian is given the peace of knowing there is nothing he or she can add.
The book of Ephesians challenges everything that holds us back. This book enlarges our goals, expands our visions, and gets us moving.
The author wants the Ephesians to reach for the highest stars. The book of Ephesian is written to show how big our God really is.
Eph 2:6; For he raised us from the dead along with Christ, and we are seated with him in the heavenly realms—all because we are one with Christ Jesus.
We are the carriers of His glory because of the presence of God in our lives. His life was laid down that we might gain access to the very portals of heaven, that glory might reign again in the very creation of God.
Many Christians today are not reigning in life. They have no idea that Christ redeemed us so that we can reign with Him. We are called to live in another realm, the realm of glory, so we have to learn to operate from where we come from. We are Eagles not turkeys!
Let us look at these principles that we see in the book of Ephesians.
I. Sit.
Sit means rest. As I have mentioned earlier a Christian must start his journey with Christ by sitting. Knowing that everything was done for us by the Savior. Know your place in Christ!
Christ is seated in heaven at the Father’s right hand, resting while God enforces the victory that His Son achieved at the cross. The bible says, we are seated with him in the heavenly realms. Christian should see things in Christ perspective.
When we see things from heavenly places, time is irrelevant because we are seeing from the eternal realm. You have the ability to see things as they are called to be in the eternal, to see as God sees! And the miracle is just a release of heavens glory into this earthly realm. We should see things here on earth as if we are from heaven.
As a child of God, you are to trust in your heavenly Father and adopt the same attitude of rest. God wants you to have a throne mentality, a winning attitude.
Christ has done and provided everything — healing, provisions, breakthroughs that we need.
We are called to enter into the realm of the Spirit and to see from a heavenly perspective
So cease struggling, sit still and watch as God’s mighty hand moves in your behalf.
II. Walk.
Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Walking comes from being seated as the Christian merely lives out the Christian life by claiming his place seated alongside Christ. As people sitting with Christ in the heavenly realms we should have His perspective. You cannot walk the Christian way if you are not seated with Christ.
Walking is posture. It’s easy to spot people with breeding.I don’t know if it’s easy to spot Christians who knos their position in Christ. Christians who walk with their heads held up high are those that know they are sons and daughters of the King.
Paul wants us to walk in the finished work of Jesus. There is already a path where God wants us to walk on: the path of victory.
The Christian’s entire life is to be founded and lived out from the finished work of Jesus.
Ephesians 4:1
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called.
III. Stand.
Sit, Walk, Stand is based on the three key words which divide the book of Ephesians into its basic sections. Stand means, standing your ground against Satan.
Satan attacks us in the area where we are ignorant. If you know your position in Christ, he cannot gain grounds.
Ephesians 6:11
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Jesus has already defeated Satan on the cross, and that’s the ultimate truth. Yet, sometimes if you don’t put this into heart, he will try to make you believe that he is still in business.
Ephesians gives us the full armour to withstand the fiery darts of the enemy.
The wonderful thing about this armor is, when your body is wrapped with it, the enemy doesn’t know who is inside.
Weak or strong, girl or boy...We are fully covered by the armor God has provided for us.
God does not want us to fight the devil in long-drawn battles. God’s Word tells us to rest instead.
In the spiritual warfare passage in Ephesians 6, the word “wrestle” appears only once, whereas the word “stand” appears four times! This means that in the spiritual warfare, we are to stand or rest in the victory of Christ.
I tell you, Jesus has already defeated the devil and in so doing, He has put us on victorious grounds. And to help us further stand our ground, He has given us His seven-piece armour.
All we have to do is put on this armour, and cease trying to defeat an already defeated foe!
