Heading To Another Room
1 Corinthians 10:1-11
1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
I have entitled this today: “Heading To Another Room”
God did not want the people, or us to be ignorant about these truths.
God wants us to remember the things that have happened in the past so we can know what is possible for us.
Paul wanted the Corinthians to know that their Fathers were under the cloud.
Remember how the Presence of the Lord led Israel in the wilderness under the cloud.
A pillar of cloud led them by day and a pillar of fire by night.
The Presence of God literally led Israel.
Verse one says that they all passed through the sea, the Red Sea typifies passing from death unto life.
Verse two says that they were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
A. the Lawgiver was a type of Christ
B. In a cloud, a type of the Presence of God
C. In the sea, a type of water Baptism
Verse three says: 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
This is speaking of the Manna which is a type of the Lord’s supper.
All of them drank the same Spiritual drink, this is referring to the smitten rock.
Ex 17:6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
Verse four of our opening Scripture says: “for they drank”, this is saying literally, they were drinking, implying a continuous gift.
And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
John 14:18-21
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
We have the Holy Spirit that has been given to the church.
If we are born again believers, then Christ is on the inside of us.
John 14:21 says: He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
We have His commandments are we keeping them?
Then we are the ones who love Jesus and Jesus will reveal Himselve to us.
1 Peter 1:10-14
1Pe 1:10 As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries,
11 seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.
12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven--things into which angels long to look.
13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,
God does not want us to be ignorant of what the Word says.
Now read 1 Corinthians 10:5
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Even though God showed them that He was with them, even though He supplied what they needed, food, clothes and even water.
Even though they saw God’s Divine Presence with them, there was still rebellion in the camp.
They were overthrown in the wilderness because of rebellion.
Now look at verse six: 6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
Ro 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Sin will kill, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Again, we need to understand that the things recorded in the Word of God are for our examples.
The Word, if we let It, or let Him, will take us somewhere in the things of God.
I have entitled this today: “Heading To Another Room”
The reason why I preached this today:
Dream 1-17-05
Listen to the whole dream before you judge what I am saying.
I dreamed that I had a few drinks, I am now playing a game. I felt light headed. I told an individual in the game that I was not drunk. I knew they thought I was. I said that I had not touched any alcohol. They said they believed me. I looked out the window at a beautiful cloud. I felt like I was drunk. I knew I was not. The Spirit of God picked me up and He started taking me up. I was heading into another room. I said, “Thank you, Jesus.” as I woke up.
Interpretation
I had drank a few drinks but it was not what it looked like.
Acts 2:14-18
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
Cloud represents the Glory of God, His Presence.
This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
For these are not drunken, as ye suppose,
The Spirit of God picked me up and He started taking me up. I was heading into another room. I said “Thank you, Jesus.” as I woke up.
The Spirit of God wants us to know what the Word says can and what will happen.
Since then, I guess God has taken me to another room.
How many want to go to another room in your walk?
Then listen to what the Word says:
1 Corinthians 10:7-11
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
Don’t murmur and complain about what God is doing.
Get your eyes off of what you see physically, and start looking through your spiritual eyes and let God do what He wants to do in your life.
He wants to take you to a new level in Him.
The higher you go, new levels…new devils.
1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Church don’t temp Jesus, test Him to see if He will.
1 Corinthians 10:9
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
Closing
How many really want to go to another room in Christ Jesus? If you’re not willing to listen to what He says, then don’t come up around the Altars.
If you do, then come up and let’s pray.
