Filler Up
Acts 2:1-4
Vv 2
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it ’ filled ’ all the house where they were sitting.
Filled: is a Greek word = pleroo…..(play ro’o)
it denotes the filling of a vessel within, as the wind filled the house inwardly.
Acts 15:32
And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost
- It needs a place to fill; we all have a void and need it filled.
- The disciples were filled inwardly and essentially with the Spirit.
Romans 8:11
But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies, by His Spirit that dwell in you.
John 14:15-20, 26 read
BAPTIZING POINT
** First we must have the Spirit alive and working in us inwardly: before the filling: pleroo (play ro’o) the filling within
** Second it will cause a outward confession in the old man being put to death and being raised in the new man; Christ. To come forward: pletho (play tho) ’ the filling outwardly’
** This means they were filled with it. In Mat 10:1-8 then they were baptized/filled with it 3 years later in Acts 2
’VISUAL AID’
Glass and a pitcher of water: if the water is poured into the glass it is filled, but not baptized. By burying the glass in the fullness of the water it is both filled and baptized.
Taking the glass out of the fullness it is no longer baptized.
So it is with believers, to the extent one is filled with the Spirit he has that measure of power and can do all things through Christ who strengthens him. If he is merely filled and has the Spirit by measure he is limited in spiritual power.
If he has the Spirit in all the fullness there is no limitation.
A filling always comes with a baptism, but baptism does not always come with a filling.
Here at Pentecost they were both filled and baptized !
** We wonder what happen to our Spirit or joy; we are out of the pitcher of water and away from the fullness
** The disciples had been filled already inwardly, and while waiting in the upper room they were filled again outwardly
Vv 4
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Filled: is Grreek word = pletho….(play tho)…. to fill outwardly
** The disciples were filled outwardly with the Spirit to perform there ministry. See Acts 1:8
** Every Christian should experience both fills, and should live in the fullness of the pitcher.
** Once it is right on the inside, then it can work in its fullness on the outside.
