What do these stones mean?
Joshua 4:1-9
Those stones were left there to represent A few things:
1. The wonders of God = parting the Jordan River
2. The work of the people = some working, giving there time, talents, materials, muscle power, some praying, some cooking, etc;
3. The way to the Promise Land = it symbolized their crossing over.
STONES = good to gather for battle

“ “used as a symbol > to remind us to pray, fast, teach, love….
John 8:1-11 READ OUT TO THE CHURCH
* Notice it was the law to stone them that were caught!
* They probably came caring stones to throw
* After Jesus had pointed out their sins, they could have just dropped there stones along
with there heads as they went out of the room,
* And they were left there for a memorial to that lady each time that she went by.
* Just as the altar is for you and I today.
* Just because you pick them up does not mean that you’ll throw them.
* If we would think about our selves, there is probably a good chance that there will be a
pile of stones at the end of each pew as we will be leaving here today.

When the hurricane came through South Carolina there was a small church in the path of it. Where a few members and there Pastor gathered together to ride out the storm.
And the Pastor began to pray.
"Most Gracious Heavenly Father,
Send us the spirit of the children of Moses.
“ “ “ “ “ “ “ “Israel.
“ “ “ “ “ “ “ “The Promise Land.
Just as he started to continue on,
one of the brethren spoke up and said,
"Lord don’t send anybody!! Come yourself!!
This is no job or time for Children!! "
Back to Joshua.
These stones could also have been:
~A sign of remembrance, to remember what God has done for them
~A time to praise him.
~A sign to there family.
~A sign to there foes.
1Peter 1:18-19
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But by the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
> Stones are valued by there rareness.
The rarer a stone is, the higher the value it becomes.
Such as diamonds, pearls, rubies, gold, silver, etc;
Ø How much more is the blood of Christ than all those stones?
Ø It is priceless, because it is the only one ever to take away the sins of the world!!!
Ø He alone is the stone that the builders rejected.
