Summary: A lot of Christians are “Longing For That Water” they used to drink, but are not willing to let Jesus be in control of their whole life. It is time to give all of ourselves over to God not just part.

Longing For That Water

Part 2

Psalm 107:1-9

1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy,

3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.

4 They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.

5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

6 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

7 And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

I have entitled this today: Longing For That Water - Part Two.

Last week, we talked about how David was longing for the water that he used to drink, water that came from the well that was at Bethlehem.

He was yearning for what he used to have; and how it seemed like a dream and an impossible thing to have.

Have you ever longed for what you used to have in your walk with the Lord?

I believe that what we need, in our walks, is a longing for all of God that we can have in our walks.

Are you longing for what you used to have in your walk today?

Have you ever found yourself longing for that water you used to drink?

Don’t you think that it is about time you got in the river of God one more time, and let the Spirit of God have control of your situation?

Psalm 107:1-2

1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy,

We have to learn to give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever.

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

What God did in the past He will also do today.

We have been talking a lot about whose we are. As a believer in Christ, I have been bought with a price, I am not my own, but I am the property of Jesus Christ.

Verse two says: “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so”, say so.

Are you redeemed this morning? If you are, then act like it and say so.

He has redeemed us from the hand of the enemy,

Just like David last week, we talked about how the People of God, at this time, had labored intensely to plant and cultivate crops.

And when they were ready to be harvested, the Philistines would swoop down and take what rightly belonged to Israel.

This is what Satan tries to do to the believer; he attempts to rob you of your inheritance and will do so if you do not know how to properly follow the Lord.

God wants us to, as believers, follow what the Bible says to do.

Satan will come as a thief and try to take what God has given you. It is time to stand against the wiles of the evil one and say I don’t think so.

What God has given me, is mine, and I will not let it go in the Name of Jesus. “Satan, get thee behind me”.

Psalm 107:4-6

4 They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.

5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

6 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

The people of Israel, after they were set free from Egypt, wandered in the desert, they had no city to dwell in.

When they were hungry and thirsty, the Lord supplied what they needed.

He gave them manna from Heaven and He supplied the water they had need of.

Verse 6 says “they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses”.

Has any one in here ever felt like this is the day of my trouble?

Some might say I have cried unto the Lord and I am still here in the same situation.

A lot of people cry out to God in their day of trouble, but they really don’t mean what they are saying.

When we are a Christian, then we are a believer, and when we are a believer we do what Jesus tells us to do.

John 3:16-17 NAS

16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

Now look at John 3:36 (NAS)

36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

A true believer does what the Son, “Who is the Son?” says to do.

If we are in our day of trouble, are we really doing what Jesus says to do?

A lot of Christians are “Longing For That Water” they used to drink, but are not willing to let Jesus be in control of their whole life.

Psalm 107:7

7 And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

God always leads His children in the right way.

The children of Israel were led by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.

God was taking them where they needed to go.

God wanted the things of Egypt to be totally gone out of their lives.

How are we led in the right way?

By staying in the Word of God and staying in a place of prayer in our lives.

When we learn to do what Jesus tell us to do, then we will overcome our personal deserts that we are in.

God’s mercy endures forever.

The reason that I preached this today:

Dream 10-6-08

I dreamed that I was observing 2 young men in a body of water. They would catch their breath and then they would go to the bottom of the body of water. They were in a standing motion, going down feet first. I could tell they were good friends. They did this 3 or 4 times. They would go down to the bottom and come back to the top, catch their breath, and do it again. I noticed as they went down, that one of the 2 was caught on the bottom of the body of water. The other guy didn’t realize that his friend didn’t come up. He came up and he realized that his friend didn’t come up. He took a extra long breath and went back down to help his friend. I noticed that he removed something from the other man’s feet. He helped him to the top of the water. I can’t explain how he did it, but I watched him take the man to shore. He took him to safety.

Interpretation

Observing dream means a message dream.

Body of water, in this case, would represent the Holy Spirit.

2 men, the number 2 speaks of relationship between us and God.

They were standing in the water so they were saved.

They kept going under the water and then coming back up for breath, they were going through the motions.

The one went under and he did not come back up, the other man, at first, did not see this.

The man went back into the water and moved something from his feet.

His walk in the Lord was being affected.

Christians are drowning and they need help.

The man went back in after his friend and rescued him.

Are we going under and helping others with their walk in the Lord?

Maybe we are like David and we are longing for that special water.

What we need to do is tell God we want some of that old time Pentecostal fire back in our life.

“I want what I had, but God I want more than before.”

David had a longing for that water.

What we need to do is get back in the River of God because wherever the river goes there is life!

I remember what I had, but I also know what I have now.

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

That same presence I felt before, I can, if I want, feel today.

Mathew 6:33-34

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Now look at Psalm 107:8-9

8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

God is good and He wants us to praise Him.

This is telling me that when my soul is longing for Him, He will satisfy me.

Are you longing for that special water that you used to drink then it really is time that we get into the river of God and start swimming one more time?

Satan will try to put stumbling blocks in your way but with God’s help you will persevere.

You will PUSH and you will win during your day of trouble.

Philippians 3:12-14

12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

We have to press; we have to Push, pray until something happens!

If you’re longing for that water ask God to give you a drink one more time.

Ask Him to give you even more than before.

Closing

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

If you’re stuck in the water this morning, going through the motions of serving God this morning, I want you to come up and get a refilling in your cup.

Sing song: Fill My Cup Lord

10-6-08 I had another dream

I dreamed I was in a room that was filling up with water. I saw Jesus standing in this room with me.

God wants to fill our rooms up with the water that comes from His River.

The good news is when Jesus is with us, we don’t have to worry about drowning.

Are you longing for a drink of water this morning?

Jesus will give you a drink if you ask Him.

Where Jesus is…there is life.
