The Midnight Cry
Mathew 25:1:13
1 ¶ Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Lu 12:35
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. {gone out: or, going out}
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock the clock is continuing to tic.
I’ve entitled this today: the midnight cry.
There have been many great feats that have been recorded in the Word of God that took place at the midnight hour.
We know the story in Exodus where the Lord smote all the first born males in Egypt.
Exodus 12:29
29 ¶ And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.
Exodus 12:22-23
22 And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
23 For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
The Blood was applied to the header and two side posts which formed a perfect cross.
We are never to regard the Cross of Christ as a mere circumstance in the life of Christ referring to His sin bearing.
Jesus did not bear our sins anywhere else; He did not bear them in the manger, or in the wilderness, or in the garden but only on the tree.
1 Peter 2:24
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
According to Exodus 2:22: and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
The death Angel was to come through at night and beyond the protection of the Blood of the lamb their was no assurance of protection.
Tic tock, tick tock, tick tock the clock is ticking.
Acts 16:20:31
20 And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,
21 And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.
22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
25 ¶ And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Paul and Silas prayed and were singing praises to God at midnight, the other prisoners heard them singing and praying.
Verse 26 says that suddenly there came a great earth quake and the foundations of the prison was shaken and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
The keeper of the prison was now awakened out of his sleep and he saw that the prison doors had been opened was about to kill himself when Paul yelled out do yourself no harm we are all here.
The jailer was responsible for the prisoners and he would have been put to death.
Out of all of this something great took place, the jailer and his whole house found the Lord.
Acts 27:27-31
27 But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country;
28 And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.
29 Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.
30 And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship,
31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.
There had been a storm going on for about 2 weeks and the people on the ship was about to jump ship because they felt that the ship was about to go down.
Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers except you abide in the ship you can not be saved.
Paul had had a vision of a Angel in:
Acts 27:21-26
21 ¶ But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.
22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.
23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,
24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.
25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.
26 Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.
The man of God had a word for the people right around midnight.
Unless you abide on the ship you cannot be saved.
Unless you stay under the pavilion of Jesus you cannot be saved.
There was an obedience factor.
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock the clock is ticking.
Now back to our opening scripture.
Lu 12:35
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. {gone out: or, going out}
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins.
The # 10 in the Bible speaks of perfection.
Virgins represent those who belong to the Lord.
The 10 virgins took their lamps and went to meet the Bridegroom.
5 were wise and 5 were foolish 5 had taken extra oil with them and 5 didn’t.
Oil represents a constant flow of the Spirit in their hearts and lives.
It can only be maintained by ones faith in Christ and what He did at the Cross.
The bridegroom tarried they all slept and slumbered.
Mathew 25:6 says:
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
There were 5 ready and 5 who were not, now look at verse 10-13
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock the clock is ticking.
I have entitled this today:
The Midnight Cry and here is the reason why:
Dream 8-20-08
I dreamed that it was 12 o’clock midnight. I knew that I had to get everyone inside.
Interpretation
Jesus is getting ready to come back and I have to warn people to get inside of Gods protecting power.
