THE TWO BLIND MEN
Matthew 20:29-34
INTRO: Wherever Jesus went, He took with Him the ability to do good, as well as the desire to do good. Like the good shepherd, He was constantly seeking lost sheep. As He went about, He performed many miracles.
This is just one of those miracles.
I. THE CONDITION OF THESE MEN.
A. They were blind.
1. Blindness hides the beauty of God.
a. A blind man cannot see the things of nature.
b. Many of the joys and pleasures of life come from
our sight.
2. These two men couldn’t see Jesus.
a. Yet, they knew who He was.
b. Neither can we see Jesus.
B. They were poor.
1. Poverty is often the lot of the blind.
2. These two men depended upon the gifts of others for
their needs.
II. THEIR DESIRE FOR JESUS’ HELP.
A. The Savior’s convenient visit.
1. He passed by where they sat.
2. They sought not Christ, but He came near to them.
B. Their need for help.
1. They heard of His passing.
2. They asked for help.
3. The crowd rebuked them.
III. THE CURE WHICH CHRIST GAVE TO THEM.
A. He stopped when He heard them.
B. He asked them what they wanted.
C. He granted them their request.
IV. THE APPLICATION TO THE LIFE OF THE SINNER.
A. They are spiritually blind.
B. They don’t seek Jesus—He seeks them.
C. They need the help of the Savior.
D. He has the cure for all their ills.
E. He will grant their requests.
