A Pack of Seeds
Psalm 126:1-6
1 When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.
3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
4 Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.
5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him
This passage of Scripture portrays the deliverance of Jerusalem from Sennacherib.
Sennacherib was taking over kingdoms at this time and he had his mind set on Jerusalem.
This was so glorious that it seemed like a dream.
The people were in captivity but God was about to bring a great deliverance.
During this time, there was a man by the name of Hezekiah and he trusted in God.
He knew who God was and what the power of God could bring about.
Hezekiah had a relationship with God and he was a man who believed in prayer.
Even though Sennacherib tried to intimidate the people of God, it did not matter, because Hezekiah understood that as long as there was relationship between him and God, deliverance would come.
The deliverance of Jerusalem was so outstanding that it was noticed by all the heathen round about with them giving glory to God.
The Lord sent one angel and destroyed 185,000 Assyrians in one night.
Psalm 126:3
3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
God had done great things for Israel and they were glad.
God is a God who is still alive today.
God is a God who will still deliver His people. In order to be delivered, there has to be someone who believes that He can.
There has to be someone who will be willing to take the Word of God and live for Him.
There has to be someone who is willing to take the map that has been given to us and live by what it says to do. (The Bible)
We, as a people of God, need to take our road map and live by what it says to do.
Church, we need to have a made up mind when it comes to the things of God.
Psalm 126:5
5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. {joy: or, singing}
Do we sow in tears for our loved ones?
If we sow in tears, then we will what? Reap in joy.
Do you sow the good things of God and do people see the love of God working through you?
God, this morning, has given you all a pack of seeds to be planted.
Are you taking care of the seeds that have been given to you?
Are you taking care of your garden?
When we have a God given pack of seeds we learn to take what has been bestowed to us and use them wisely.
John 16:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
Psalm 126:6 N.A.S.
He who goes to and fro weeping carrying his bag of seed. Shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.
The reason why I preached this today:
Dream 11-19-99
I dreamed that I was going down a slide at an amusement park. It was not a very long slide. It started off great and it was going smooth. All of a sudden, it seemed that it was taking longer than it should have. The slide was now more like a roller coaster. The slide started to get a little rough, it was starting to hurt. I felt like God was telling me to rebuke Satan and as soon as I did, the ride was over. I got up and I looked down. I saw a pack of seeds that would grow into the number four. I opened them up, I tasted them, and they were bitter. I was telling a guy what God had just done and what God had given me. He said that he had seen seeds like this before, but he didn’t seem to believe it was from God. I knew that it was.
Interpretation
Amusement park could mean a place where we go to have a good time.
Slide, roller coaster could mean something that is unstable.
Slide at first was going along smooth, a lot of times life goes along smooth but then the enemy will throw obstacles in our paths in order to try to take us down.
Sometimes the things in life get tough and they start to take their toll on us.
Sometimes we need to rebuke Satan in our walks.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
We need to submit our whole lives all the way to God, resist the temptations of the enemy and Satan will flee from you.
Sometimes, I think God was showing me the ride that I was on was going to, at first, seem easy.
Satan was going to come against the plans that God has for me and this church.
There would be things I would not understand take place and people who would fall that I never thought would.
When I came off of this slide, God would give me a pack of seeds that would grow into the number four.
Over the years, there have been many times that I have dreamed about the number four.
Four can mean reign or rule or the four corners of the earth.
Four can mean wind, Holy Spirit.
I think about the dreams that God has given me, I think about this church, and I think about what’s taken place in your lives.
The seeds that God has given me are starting to sprout in you.
Mary just had a dream about an umbrella in this Sanctuary with the number four on it.
The umbrella was yellow, a gift with promise.
Sometimes, when we taste the seed that God has given us, it might seem bitter, but the end result is a God given seed and it will prosper.
Some people might have had a hard time listening to what Hezekiah was saying, but that did not stop him from speaking.
Hezekiah trusted in what the Word of God said and even when it looked hopeless he would take it to prayer.
Hezekiah and Isaiah prayed and God intervened.
Matthew 16:13-19
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Who do we say Christ is this morning?
Do we say that He is the Son of the living God?
Matthew 16:18
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
The gates of hell shall not be able to prevail against the church.
Satan might blow and he might bluster but he can not win.
Matthew 16:19
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
You, in this verse, refers to all believers.
The keys of the Kingdom of Heaven are referring to the authority that has been given to the believer.
We have the privilege of preaching or proclaiming the Gospel.
And whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Christ has given the authority and power to every believer to bind Satan and his dominions of darkness and we do so by the Name of Jesus.
Are we bound by the enemy?
It is time to be loosed in the Name of Jesus; it is time to be free in the things of God.
What are you doing with your pack of seeds this morning?
Psalms 126:6 N.A.S.
He who goes to and fro weeping carrying his bag of seed. Shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.
Church, I will repeat, we are going to grow. I don’t know how, but I know that where there has been seeds given like we have been given, something has to break loose.
Jesus is showing up in our Sanctuary and where Jesus is, there are things that will take place in our walks.
Are we planting? Are we sowing?
Miracles have and miracles will continue to take place in this church.
Susan has a miracle coming, that is one thing I know.
When it takes place, I didn’t say if it takes place, “if” doubts. “When” believes that it has been revealed.
When God spoke to me in 2004, and told me that there was going to be a miracle with my sister, it does not stop there but goes on.
God has and He will continue to do great things for us this morning.
Do you believe that Deuteronomy 29:29 is true?
29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
If that’s the case, there will be more things take place and this church will be full!
Church, we need to be obedient to what Jesus tells us to do and when we do, signs and wonders and even more miracles will take place.
Closing
Do you believe in what God has spoken to you?
If you do, please stand!
Deuteronomy 29:29
29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
Psalms 126:6 N.A.S.
He who goes to and fro weeping carrying his bag of seed. Shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.
