THE BELIEVER’S JUDGMENT
2 Corinthians 5:9-12
INTRO: We all know that the unsaved will have to stand before God and give account of their sins. Sometimes, we fail to realize that we too, as Christians, must stand judgment also.
Today, we want to think about that believers judgment.
I. JUDGMENT OF WORKS, NOT SIN.
A. They have been atoned for:
1. By Christ’s death.
2. By our acceptance of Him.
a. Although the lost man acknowledges Christ’s birth
and death, he does not accept Him.
b. Without acceptance, there can be no forgiveness.
B. And remembered no more forever.
1. Hebrews 10:17.
2. Only after:
a. Acceptance.
b. Repentance.
II. EVERY WORK MUST COME INTO JUDGMENT.
A. All our idle words (Matthew 12:36).
1. Includes: Gossip, Foul language, Slander, etc.
2. God hears our every word, even those we unconsciously
think Psalms 139:4).
B. We all shall stand this judgment (Romans 14:10).
1. We judge our fellow man for something he does as if we
didn’t have to stand before God in judgment.
2. We will be judged for judging our fellow man.
C. We must stand judgment for everything we do (Galatians
6:7).
1. Whether great or small.
2. Whether Christian or Pagan.
D. We all must stand, regardless of our social standing.
1. No favorites with God (Ephesians 6:8).
2. Our good work rewarded (Ephesians 6:8).
3. Colossians 3:24-25.
III. THE RESULT IS REWARD OR LOSS OF RE
WARD.
A. The reward is treasures in Heaven.
B. The loss os lack of treasures.
C. 1 Corinthians 3:11-15.
IV. THIS JUDGMENT OCCURS AT THE RETURN
OF CHRIST (MATTHEW 16:27).
A. Jesus will bring everything to light that we have ever
done (1 Corinthians 4:5).
B. Jesus brings with Him our rewards (Revelation 22:12).
CONC: What will your judgment be? Reward or loss? What will your reward
be? Great or small? You can avoid a disastrous judgment through acceptance and repentance.
