In The Master’s Chambers
2 Kings 6:1-12
1 And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.
2 Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
3 And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
4 So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.
5 But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed. {axe head: Heb. iron}
6 And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.
7 Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.
8 Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp. {camp: or, encamping}
9 And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.
10 And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.
11 Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?
12 And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber. {None: Heb. No}
It seems that the unbelief registered in chapter 2 concerning the sons of the Prophets seems to at least have given way to some faith.
Prayerfully their association with Elisha had done a lot to direct them to the Lord.
Elisha had had a great teacher in Elijah, what Elijah had he had passed down to his servant Elisha.
There had to be a teacher who could say I saw that, I saw God when He did this and that.
Of all the things that the sons of the Prophets studied in this school, their association with Elisha was by far their greatest instruction.
2 Kings 6:3 says:
3 And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
One of the sons of the Prophets was not satisfied with the Prophets mere approval of the enterprise, but he wished for actual presence; Elisha granted the request.
Elisha now goes with them to the river Jordon and they cut down wood.
As they were cutting down wood, the ax head falls into the water, and they cried, “Master, the ax head was borrowed.”
2 Kings 6:6 says:
6 And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.
The stick, no matter how crude, was symbolic of the Cross of Jesus Christ.
What we learn from this tremendous lesson is the power of Calvary.
Every single blessing received by the child of God comes through Calvary.
Elisha applied the Cross to the problem.
The world needs to be taught that without what Jesus did at the Cross, and without it not being applied to our situation then nothing will take place.
There needs to be teachers who will rise up that are willing to take what has been taught to them and impart it to the church world and the world.
The ax head floats and it is retrieved.
This morning, I want to focus on being in the Master’s chambers.
In verse 8, the Syrians are warring against Israel, and the King took counsel with his servants.
2 Kings 6:9
9 And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.
Despite Israel’s spiritual degeneracy, the Lord helped them through Elisha.
He was a man who was in tune with God and he revealed 3 or more times, the plans of the King of Syria.
Deuteronomy 29:29
29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
God, this morning, is a revealer. When He reveals something, it is ours, as long as we are obedient to what the Word of God says.
Not only does this pertain to us, but our children and their children as well.
The King of Syria is now troubled, he can not figure out how Israel knows his plans.
He automatically thinks that there is a traitor in his midst.
He now asks. “Will you show me who is for the King of Israel?”
2 Kings 6:12
12 And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.
Elisha was in the Master’s chambers!
Here’s the reason why I preached this today:
Dream 4-29-08
I dreamed that I was riding with Minnie someplace. I asked her if it would be easier if I drove my car and I parked it at the church. She told me yes. She took me back to get my car. We went to a rich person’s house. I had been staying there. The owner had let me use the Master bedroom. I had left my keys on the nightstand by the lamp. The kids who lived there ran out and asked me if I wanted to get my keys. I told them yes. I don’t fill comfortable in the Master’s chambers.
Interpretation
I had just got done praying and asking God what I needed to do for this church to grow, and for the people to come.
I was riding with Minnie someplace, I did not know where.
When it comes to God, we will not always know where we are going at first.
I parked my car at the church, A God factor.
I had been staying at a rich person’s house, God owns everything.
The owner had let me use the Master bedroom; bedroom represents a place of spiritual intimacy with God.
I had left my keys on the nightstand by the lamp.
The key to my prayer is in the Masters bedroom, I had left my keys there.
I needed my keys to unlock doors.
God has given me a gift when it comes to dreams and visions and I need to help other people understand that God is speaking.
I go back to the dream that I had the night before.
Dream 4-28-08
I dreamed that another guy and I were on a ledge of stone. There was snow and ice that was on this ledge. I was trying to help this guy and myself across the path of stone. I saw a door, a literal door. I grabbed hold of the door so that I would not fall. As I grabbed hold of the door, I noticed the door was being held by ice and stone. The ice broke away from the door and the stone. It looked like I would fall. On the other side of the door was Jesus. He reached out His hand and helped me across the ledge.
Interpretation
Another guy and I would represent me as a Pastor trying to help you.
Ledge of Stone is easy; Jesus is the Rock of my salvation.
There was snow and ice on this path that was a ledge of stone.
Snow and ice represents the Word of God.
White snow means purity, undefiled.
Ice-if you don’t pay attention to ice you might fall.
If you don’t pay attention to what the Word of God says, you are on dangerous ground.
I saw a door a literal door.
Revalation 3:20
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Jesus is standing at the door, and He is knocking: if I hear His voice I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
It was a literal door, how about literal keys:
Jesus is the key to everything that we have need of.
Elisha had an understanding that he was teaching to the school of Prophets.
He had an understanding of what it meant to be in the Master’s chamber.
God would reveal secret things to him because he was going to do what the Word said to do.
God has shown me where my help is, He has shown me that Jesus is standing in my midst, and all I have to do is be obedient to His Word.
Do you want to be in the Master’s chamber?
Are you willing to take the Word and live what it says?
Not pick and choose what you want to hear, being obedient to the Word means paying God His tithes.
Obedience to the Word means when He reveals what’s wrong in our walks, to fix it in Jesus’ name.
We want God to give us secrets in the night, but when it’s about us, all of a sudden, we don’t want to hear it.
I want to hear secrets in the night, I want fresh Revelation that God is giving me.
Then when He reproves me, I need to give heed.
God, at times, will correct me. I might not like it, but true servants will take the message and apply it to their lives.
What we need is a true training, not only to hear the voice of the Lord, but apply what He is speaking.
If you want to be in the Master’s chamber, you have to be a person who not only hears, but puts into action His Word.
You need to pick up your keys from the nightstand that you have left in the Master’s chamber, and use the keys to unlock the doors, the mysteries of God.
James 1:22-23
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
If you want to be in the Masters chamber, you have to be a doer and not a talker.
God has given you keys to use. Don’t you think it is time to use what has been bestowed to you?
We live in a Prophetic generation, but we need understanding of how to use what God has given us.
I believe in God given dreams and visions, but I want to see a fulfillment of the promises He has made.
Revalation 3:20

Closing
This morning, if you want to be in the Masters chamber, and you want to use what He has given you, I want you to come up around the altars this morning.
Church, it is time to get back to an intimate relationship with Jesus.
It is time to seek His will for our lives this morning.
