Intro: God’s grace saved us from death hell and the grave. His Holy Spirit
empowered us to lead others to Him. And He wants us to know who he really is.
I. Exodus 1:22-2:11. We were sentenced to die. The devil doesn’t like it when God blesses us. He has hated mankind from the beginning. He has sought to destroy God’s creation since he was cast from the heavenlies. Because of our sins we are sentenced to die. For the wages of sin are death.
Moses in at his birth was sentenced to death. But God made a way with an ark of bulrushes, and slime found grace with pharaoh’s daughter.
We have an ark His name is Jesus. It is because of Him we have favor with God the father.
The babe wept. Our world has been fitly styled a “valley of tears”. The great and the best of men have been the subjects of tears. Hezekiah, the king wept. The daughters of Jerusalem wept. The Lord Jesus Christ wept.
If he hadn’t cried out he probably would have floated downstream to his death. He might have starved to death. He could of died of exposure. Were would we be if we hadn’t cried out to God.
It ended with him having a palace for a home. All the learning of the Egyptians as his portion.
II. Exodus 2:12-3:9 Moses fled Egypt because of the crime he had committed. He married a medianite woman. He was tending his father-in-law’s sheep when God got his attention through a burning bush. He turned his attention off of everything else and focused on the bush.
The church is the burning bush in the world today. Fueled by the Holy Spirit and unconsumed by the persecution of the world.
God speaks through the church.
Moses’ bush was in the middle of the desert. Just like the church is in the desert of the world. Brought out of Egypt but not yet established in Canaan.
III. Exodus 3:10-3:14. God told Moses that I AM that I AM sent him. Not I was or that I’m gonna be. The name denotes God as 1. Personal. 2. Self existent. 3. Eternal. 4. Independent of His creatures. 5. Self Identical. 6. Self revealing and gracious. Hence-1. Changeless in His purpose. 2. Faithful to His promises. 3. Able to fulfill them. And 4. Certain to do so.
