HOLY COMMUNION ORDINANCE OF A NEW BEGINNING
“For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his
brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.” Heb. 8: 7-13.
Someone said, “when the old is not working then the new is on the way”.
In essence, no matter how difficult your present situation you are not stuck, there is a breakthrough on your way. God will pull you out of any incarceration.
Remember also that God has promised that He will do a new thing.
I recently found out from the scriptures that one ordinance that procures a new beginning for the believers is the Holy Communion.
Through it every process of change occurs.
THE OLD vs. THE NEW
In Matt. 14: 24 Jesus, administering the Passover with the disciples said, “This is my blood of the New Covenant shed for many”
Why New Testament? Because there was an old one! The old one could not bring perfection because man could not keep it fully.
God, intending that He would fully redeem man from the strangulating effects of sin decided to establish a new covenant.
God does not change but He is dynamic and progressive in His thoughts and acts. He is not stereotype.
“For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place
have been sought for the second.
For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the
day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of
Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded
them not, saith the Lord.” Heb 8: 7-9.
When a foundation is fraught with imperfections that can jeopardize God’s plan and purpose, He sets in with, “Behold, I’ll do a new thing” plan. Is.43: 19. All the Passovers that Israel had been taken were connected to the old covenant. Jesus established a new one with His precious Blood, Halleluia! A new way was born. It settled all the debt man owed God since creation. It paid in advance all the bill of the future. The new covenant is the anchor of hope to the hopeless and eternal life to the mortals.
THE FIRST “COMMUNION” EX. 12: 1-14.
Even in the old testament, the Passover, the type of the Holy Communion or the Lord’s Supper in the new, was an ordinance of a new beginning:
“And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.”
Exo 12:1-2. Here God is saying to the children of Israel, “Forget you ever lived in Egypt.
Forget the experience of the past. Delete the old calender from your program. There is a new agenda for your life. A new day has dawned. Move on.”
He then gave them an ordinance—the first Passover!
A NEW DAY FOR YOU
There is a new day coming for you. Every time you partake of the Holy Communion God wants to take you to a new level. He wants to give you a new beginning. Beloved, there is hope in your future beginning from now. Remove the mentality of servitude, disappointment of yesterday. Remember, as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Pro.23: 7
Begin to magnify a future of greatness. Jesus, the ultimate Passover had been killed. A new beginning through His blood is now offered to as many as believe on His Name and trust in His mercy.
Let me itemize some of the benefits of the Holy Communion:
i. A new season. A new beginning. Ex. 12: 2; Mk.14: 24.
ii. Deliverance from slavery, bondage. Ex.3: 7-8
iii. Freedom from oppression. Ex.3: 7-8
iv. Beginning of the fulfillment of God’s promises. Gen.15: 13-14. This had its fulfillment from Ex.3.
v. Judgment against your enemy. Gen.15: 14; Ex. 12: 12, 13.
vi. New Creation realities. Mk.14: 24.
--Reconciliation with God.
--Forgiveness of sin
--Fellowship with God
--Victory over the devil. Rev.12: 11
--Defense and favor. Heb.12: 24
Brethren, how do you take the Holy Communion? When last did you partake in it? “Do this in remembrance of me”. It is a command. Have you obeyed it this year? Or you are too busy?
You need to repent if you are guilty.
Shalom!
