See Matthew 28:18-20.
I. The will of Christ to which we all must surrender
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
III. The work of Christ in which we all must share
He wants us all at it.
A tourist skidded into a ditch. Going to the farmer who was plowing nearby, he asked, "Will you help me?"
"Yes," he answered. Hitching his mule to the car, he shouted, "Pull Jack! Pull Jim!" And the mule pulled the car onto the road.
Bewildered, the man asked, "Why did you call the names of two mules when you have only one?"
"Jack is almost blind," he said. "If he believes he’s part of a team he’ll work harder."
You and I are part of a team. "We are labourers together with God."
1. The places to which we are sent
"This is a strange world we live in. Physically it’s round, spiritually it’s flat!”
2. The purpose for which we are sent
III. The word of Christ in which we all must spread
There is one message that God has commanded to be proclaimed into all the world, and that is the gospel. The gospel is the best news that a lost and dying world could ever hope to hear.
The owner of a store placed a big sign in his window. It read, "If you need it, we have it."
His competitor’s store was smaller, and so was his stock. He placed a sign in his window that read, "If we don’t have it, you don’t need it."
However, there is something all men need, and that is salvation.
"Outside Christ there is nothing worth knowing."
1. The information is conveyed by our lips
A man who was a golfing nut married a woman who loved to attend auction sales. Both talked in their sleep.
One night the husband yelled: "Fore!"
The wife promptly shouted, "Four-twenty-five!"
Whatever we love will come up in our speech. Do you talk about Jesus?
2. The illustration is portrayed by our life
Jesus’ heartbeat was evangelism and missionary outreach. He had a passion that all men and women might be saved. That’s what He prayed about in this remarkable prayer. So what does that mean to us? If we’re going to operate on the agenda of Jesus, we will strive to discover and fulfill our part in the evangelization of the world.
