You don’t look like what you been through
Gen 42:1-8 Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?
2 And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.
3 And Joseph’s ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.
4 But Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him.
5 And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.
6 And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph’s brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.
7 And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.
8 And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.
1 Sam 17:28-29 And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.
29 And David answered what have I now done? Is there not a cause?
First we must understand that there is a difference between the Holy Spirit and the anointing of God. Jesus said, “The Spirit is upon me because I am anointed.”
Jesus was anointed to preach but it was after his temptation in the wilderness that the power of God came upon him. To be anointed simply means consecrated, or set a part, for service. The Holy Spirit then gives the anointed individual or item the empowerment to operate in the anointing. The disciples were anointed and chosen by Jesus but they still had not received their empowerment until Pentecost.
A singer can be anointed to sing and have the gift of a beautiful voice. That does not mean there is Holy Ghost power in their singing. They merely have a gift to sing. I want to help someone here this morning. You have been praying asking the Lord to show you what you have done wrong who did you hurt what did you do. It seems like you have constantly went out of your way to be nice to people but every time you try it’s taken the wrong way you smile at people then somebody ask what is he/she grinning at me, for. You try to help but every time you put out your hand looks like some one spits in it. You to be nice to people and they mistake your kindness for weakness. Seems like the more you try to get close to people the more they mistreat you seems like the more you pray about it. The more they talk about you. You try to help people then they say you’re in their business. You don’t help they say you’re stuck up. You spend time trying to get to know them they say you are nosey you don’t give them the time of day they say you are acting funny. But The anointing on your life let’s you kiss those who mean you pain that’s why Jesus said in Luke 6:27-28 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. People don’t understand the anointing let’s you step outside of yourself to do the will of God. Where you use to come out of a crazy bag you can now be nice because you know where the Lord has brought you from it’s the anointing that keeps you from snapping off and you realize the anointing hasn’t got them there yet 2 Sam 3:39 And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness. JOAB KILLS ABNER DAVID MOURNS FOR HIM. 3:22-39Well the Holy Spirit told me to tell you stop crying about it, it is not you but it is the anointing God has placed on your life. You have not done anything but the anointing on your life will cause the enemy to attack you. Joseph’s brothers were jealous of his anointing they were jealous of the favor on his life. Joseph made another very fatal Mistake he revealed a promise that was only to and for him. Everything God tells you is not to be told to everyone. Everyone is not going to get excited about your gift. Everyone is not going to accept that God has given you a gift that he has not given them. Joseph’s mistake was that God gave him a vision and Joseph told it to his brothers the bible says they hated him even the more…you cannot tell everything God tells you. The enemy will spring up so fast he will immediately move to hinder and kill your dream. He must stop the dream from manifesting itself. The first tool he will use against you is Jealousy.
The hate patrol will come out the shout blockers the professional joy stealers will come out faster than you could even imagine. You try telling someone who is
not trying to get out of poverty and has no hope of ever getting out that the Lord told you he was going to move you. You watch how fast people start trying to step on your dreams and hopes how are you going to get that job without an education how are you going to by that house on your salary. You can’t afford that car off the money you make oh he is trying to pretend to be this he is trying to be that. The problem is that the bible says without a vision the people perish. Misery loves company so the haters will have to go and recruit people who also want to see you fail.
People on are the hate band wagon will influence others to have a problem with you. They have to have help In assasinating your dream and character. It has always been strange to me how people can’t just dislike you they don’t feel comfortable unless they have someone else hating on you to as well.
The strange thing is that the particular person won’t even know why they are hating on you they are just caught up in some body else’s mess. They’re not happy and can’t find a reason to praise God, so they don’t want you to be happy either. They are miserable and don’t have any joy so they try to steal your joy.
The anointing on your life will draw out your enemies and your haters and the ones who would love to see you fail. Joseph had the love of his father the bible says Israel loved Joseph more than all of his children. I am sure Jacob his father loved all his children but he loved Joseph most of all. Maybe Joseph paid more attention to his father than everyone else. Maybe he fed Jacob helped him get up at night when he was weak maybe he was just there for him. The bible says in Gen 37:3 that Joseph had the favor of his father
Gen 37:3-4 3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.
4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
Let me tell you this, it will always be some one close to you who cannot handle your success. As long as you can talk about some one else it is fine but as soon as God elevates you that will be the spike that will show the true friends. The anointing will make the impossible so easy so simple. This is the dilemma that many christians will face. The closer you draw to God the closer he will draw to you. Once God begins to reveal himself to you. You will begin to spend more time with God because you won’t mind praising him God has shown you favor. Favor will get you into more trouble than hatred. The bible says that his brothers hated him because of the favor his father showed him. Not only did they have hatred for him but the bible says they could not speak well of him. The anointing on your life will get you into more trouble. The anointing makes things easier for those who are anointed to do things that other people struggle with. The anointing on a singers voice makes it easier for her/him to sing than other people who are not anointed to sing and find it a struggle to sing this causes the enemy to breed jealousy. You can always tell the haters from the comments they make. Phrases like who does she or he think he is he is not Luther Van dross he is not Kirk Franklin. The only problem is that the person who is anointed is probably not even thinking like that at all.
Joseph never asked for his fathers favor it was given. The anointing will make a person who is gifted seem arrogant when in fact he is not arrogant
he has been blessed with a gift, since the enemy cannot imitate the gift he hates the gift that is inside of you so he attacks the gift. The enemy is jealous of the gift and favor God has given you because of his fall from grace. The problem is that most people who are anointed by the Holy Ghost are the humblest people you are going to find. The text does not say that Joseph did anything to his brothers. Personally he did nothing to hurt or hinder them nor did he treat them with disrespect. While Jesus was preaching on the mount he said out of his own mouth Matt 7:6 6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. The bible teaches us that God is no respecter of person but he gives his favor to which he wishes. The bible says that Joseph was the son if his fathers old age and for that reason he loved him so and because he loved Joseph so much his brothers hated him. David was anointed to be King by Samuel and chosen by God. His brothers were passed over in order that he might be
Anointed, they were looked over and passed over by God because they’re heart was not right.
Because 1 Sam 17:17 said
17 and Jesse said unto David his son, take now for
thy brethren an ephah of this parched corn, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to thy brethren upon arriving the bible said
1 Sam 17:23-24 23 and as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.
24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid. There is something about the anointing that chases fear away. When you have the anointing you don’t mind praying for some one with aids while everyone else afraid to touch them or be bothered with them? The anointing will empower you to do things you never thought about doing because of this, David’s brother was angry. He asked David what are you doing here and remarked I know your pride. The confidence in God will be seen as pride by those who do not trust or no God. That is why the scripture says trust in God this is true God has a way of seeing thru all the frailties and all the weaknesses to see our untapped potential.
Most people see the car in the junk yard and see what shape is in today and how ugly it has become. Yet there is a show on, MTV where they take a piece of junk car and transform it into a work of art or genius. The cars they fix often end up being show pieces. Many of you here do not look like what you have lived through. There are people in this very room that if they started to give you their testimony you would start to cry just from listening but they have lived though there nightmares and through their darkest hours and yet they do not wear the stripes of struggle on their faces nor do they walk around with the badge of suffering to draw the sympathy of everyone near but don’t you think or believe for one moment or one second they have not suffered or hurt or felt the pains of despair or of rejection the taste of racial hatred or discrimination the tears of a broken marriage or the loss of a child or a mother nobody knows how many meals you had to go without to drive what you drive or how you had. to thumb a ride to live in the house you live in. No body knows how many nights you sat at home alone in pain because you could not afford your pain medicine. Nobody knows how many pain pills you take to be able to bear the pain you carry. No body knows how you deal with the pain of the loved one you loss the smile they see hides the pain you feel.
The anointing has brought you through the sleep ness nights and the anxiety attacks. The head aches and the night your body was wrecking with pain. It’s the anointing that brought you through the family members that kissed you and talked behind your back. That hurt of a broken marriage. The pain of a loss wife that left you and let you down. Your hopes up in smoke but the anointing has brought you through. you smile but your smile has come out of tears and loneliness ain’t God alright. It is the anointing that saw you through the rejection the pain. Time that has comforted you through the hard times and through the storms. Joseph brothers didn’t even recognize him he could have had them killed. He could have had them imprisoned for the rest of their lives. When you could have crushed your enemy you showed them love and compassion. God is getting ready to reveal his glory in your life. Your latter days are about to be better than your yesterdays. Your tears are getting ready to become tears of joy. You testimony is being born your life will never be the same. They that sew in tears shall reap in joy. Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning. Trouble don’t last always it’s time to praise God. Praise him for the hard times praise him for the sorrows. If you never had a problem you wouldn’t know God could solve them. Paul said it was good that i was afflicted. God specializes in things that seem impossible. The bible says after Jesus rose his disciples did not recognize him. Jesus found them fishing and they did not immediately recognize him. You don’t look like the hell you have come through. You don’t look like the pain you have carried. You don’t look like the sorrows you have carried. You don’t look like the some one who was counted out. Shout it out tell God yes, Yes to your will Lord yes to your way Lord. Touch your neighbor and shout do it Lord Do it.
