Jesus Goes Through My Wreck
Acts 4:1-13
1 And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, {captain: or, ruler}
2 Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.
4 Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.
5 And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,
6 And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
During this time, the Sadducees almost completely controlled the High Priesthood and most of the Priestly duties in the temple.
The Sadducees were grieved. In other words, they were worried about what Peter and John were teaching at the temple.
They were angry that Jesus and the Resurrection were being preached; this was a Doctrine the Sadducees denied.
They now arrest Peter and John until the next day.
The problem was, many which heard the Word that was taught, believed the message that they received.
They believed in Christ and therefore accepted Him as their Messiah.
About 5000 thousand people believed what they had been taught that day.
The next day Annas, the High Priest and many of the high people, gathered at Jerusalem.
They now go and they get Peter and John and they set them in their midst.
They asked them by what power that they did this.
What had happened was that Peter and John had gone to the temple, at the gate called Beautiful.
There was a man that had been lying there, lame from his mother’s womb.
When this man saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked alms of them.
Acts 3:4-8
4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
This man, that had a wrecked life, came in contact with the One who was able to fix that which is broken.
Jesus was using His vessels and working His power through them.
Back to chapter 4, Peter and John are in the midst of Annas and the rest of the court of people.
They asked them by what power or by what name have you done this?
By the crippled man being made whole they already knew.
Acts 4:8-10
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
Peter is not the timid Disciple that had denied Christ 3 times; Peter is now a man who is filled with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Peter is not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ and he does not care who hears what he has to say.
Peter wanted them to know that it was by the Name of Jesus that this lame man was heeled.
He wanted them to know that it was them who crucified Christ; he also wanted them to know they crucified Him, but God raised Him from the dead.
This was one message that they never wanted to hear.
Peter wanted them to know that this man stood here whole because of Jesus.
Acts 4:10-12
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
The Stone is Christ, which became the head of the Corner.
Israel rejected Him, but this did not stop the plan of God.
Acts 4:12
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Now read Acts 4:13
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
What the Sadducees noticed was the boldness of Peter and John, and they perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men.
They took knowledge of them, in other words, they knew who they were, and all because of the power that God was working through them.
I’ve entitled this:
Jesus Goes Through My Wreck.
Here’s the reason why:
Dream 12-21-05
I dreamed that I was in a car wreck. Jesus went through the wreck with me. I was thrown from my car. I got up and ran over to get a look at Jesus standing there.
Interpretation
As Christians, there will be times that we will go through crises, but if we’re living for Him, He will go through the wreck with us.
Sometimes I will get thrown from my path, but Jesus is right there wanting me to see His deliverance.
This was also when I started wearing my seatbelt.
Are we wearing our seatbelts? Are we staying in the Word and on our knees praying?
There really is a Revelation of Jesus in the day that we are in.
Silver and Gold have I none, but such as I have give I Thee. In the Name of Jesus Christ, get up and receive whatever it is that He has for you.
1 Peter 1:13 (N.A.S.)
Therefore prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 5:10
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
Christ is able to perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.
Church, prepare your minds for action!
There is a revealing of the power of God in the church today.
How many of us, at one time or another, has had a wreck in our Christian walks?
At one time or another we have all made mistakes. As long as we are alive, at one time or another, we will mess up.
We are flesh! The Spirit is willing but at times our flesh becomes weak.
1 John 4:4
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
If Christ is in you, then you can become strong where you think you are weak.
Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.
The Lord showed me in a dream that this church was going to be full of wrecked lives.
He led me to this building through a dream.
Dream 4-19-99
I dreamed that cars were hitting each other in a chain reaction, everyone was dying. I remember that there was a light in the sky. It was like a straight line, almost like a straight lightning bolt. I knew that if the people saw this light then they were going to be alright. The light was not there very long but I knew that the light represented Jesus. The cars were wrecked from the gas station and it was leading right here.
The good news is if they see the light, if they see Jesus they will be alright.
Jesus sees the wrecks that some of us have gone through, and He wants you to know that He really is right there for you.
In my personal walk, there have been times that it seems that I have wrecked, but as I go through this place that I don’t understand that Jesus is going through the situation with me.
He wants you to see Him at work in your situations.
1 Peter 5:10
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
The Bible does not say that we will never suffer; God will take the things that we go through and make us stronger.
What we need to understand is that there is no other name under Heaven that can save and deliver us through what we are going through.
It has to be in the Name of Jesus!
Closing
The man who lay at the gate of the temple probably never thought that he would ever walk.
He may have thought that this was what he was made for.
God will take a person who believes that He can and He will do the impossible in your lives.
Silver and Gold have I none, but let me tell you what I do have.
In the Name of Jesus Christ get up and become God’s man or God’s woman who really believes that God can.
The man went walking and leaping and praising God!
The man went walking and leaping and praising God!
In the name of Jesus Christ
