We Are on the Brink of a Miracle!
Zechariah 4:1-10
5 Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. {might: or, army}
7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.
8 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.
This morning, we are going to be talking about Zerubbable, how he was anointed with the Spirit and power.
In verse 5, the reply of the Lord, in a form of a question, was not meant to show the prophet’s slowness of comprehension, but it was to call attention to the answer that is about to be given.
Zechariah 4:6 says:
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
The message of the vision to Zerubbable was also a message to all others, at least according to the need.
Zerubbable was in the process of completing the temple; God wanted him to know that it was not by his own strength or might that this would be completed.
It was not going to be a military might, nor was it going to be through the politicians.
It was going to be through a Spiritual energy, God, which he was going to be able to finish what he had started.
When verse 6 says: Not by might, human might, nor was it going to be by human power, but by Gods Spirit saith the Lord that this job would be completed.
Everything that has ever been done on this earth as it regards to the Godhead, has been done by the Godhead, with the exception of Christ and His crucifixion.
It is claimed to be for the Lord, whatever is being done must be done by the moving, the operation, and power and person of the Holy Spirit through believers.
If it is not done by the moving of the Holy Spirit, then it would be considered a working of the flesh.
Romans 8:1 says:
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
The phrase, “Saith the Lord of Host” presents God’s supreme personal power over everything in the material and Spiritual universe.
All is organized under His command. The word host is associated with warfare and it relates to the word armies.
In other words, He is Lord of the Armies.
Zechariah 4:7 says:
7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.
Zerubbable had a great mountain in the way of his path.
That mountain was Hystapes, who was the King of the mighty Medo-Persion Empire.
The King had made a decree that the work on the temple would cease.
The question, “Who are you, O Great Mountain?” is asked in sarcasm by the Holy Spirit.
In other words the Holy Spirit is asking, “Who do you think you are trying to stop the work of God?”
The phrase, “before Zerubbable you shall become a plain” in verse 7, means that the Lord will shave the face of this empire, with this King being totally removed.
He was eventually removed because he tried to hinder the work of God.
The phrase in verse 7, “and he, Zerubbable shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, grace unto it” refers to the ministry of Christ, which would ultimately come after all this played its part.
Church, we really are on the brink of a miracle, and all we have to do is hold on to Christ and not let go.
Just like Zerubbable had to face his mountain, there will be mountains that we have to climb.
The good news is when we have a hold of the hand of Jesus, we don’t have to worry about falling and getting hurt, Jesus is our protection from all the aliments that come against us.
When you are climbing your mountain, stay focused on Jesus and no matter what you go through, don’t let go of His hand.
Zerubbable had to really trust in God’s Word when the King tried to cease the work on the temple.
It was not by his might or power, but it was by the Spirit of God that his journey would be completed.
It is not by your might nor by your power, but it is by God’s Spirit that you will finish what you have started.
2 Corinthians 13:3-4
3 Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.
4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you. {in him: or, with him}
I have entitled this morning:
We Are on the Brink of a Miracle, and this is why I preached this message.
2-21-08 Page 57
I dreamed that something looked dead but I knew that it was still alive. Someone wanted to put the subject to rest, but I knew that there was still hope. I knew that what looked dead was a miracle that was about to happen. I saw the miracle literally come to life. I literally saw the power of God move upon that which seemed to be dead and brought it to life.
Interpretation
OnWednesday night, there was a message in tongues given, and God wants us to know that even though it might not look good from our prospective, it is the power of God that is going to move and will cause this church to grow.
I don’t know how or even when. aAl I know is the fact that He will do what He has spoken.
Sometimes we might feel that the dreams God has given us are nothing more than a dream.
Sometime I might even feel that this church is going to go under.
I need to remember that it was by a God given dream that we are here and because of this God given dream, God will supply all of the needs that we have as a church.
No matter what happens, I know that God has spoken, no matter what happens I know without a doubt that the power of God is falling and will continue to fall in this house.
What we need to understand is the same principle that was spoken to Zerubbable.
Zechariah 4:6
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit saith the Lord of Host.
Zechariah 4:8-9
8 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.
The first phrase refers back to the foundation of the temple some 16 years earlier and now he is finishing it.
Even though he is facing tremendous opposition, he is finishing what God has called him to do.
Christ is the one who laid the foundation of the house and the Lord is able to complete what He has started.
Psalm 127:1
Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
This message was given to Zerubbable by the Prophet Zechariah to encourage Zerubbable not to lose heart, but that God was in control of his destiny.
Zechariah 4:10
10 For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth
I am taking this scripture and applying it to our present situation.
For who has despised the day of small things?
We might be small now, but get ready, we will not small forever.
Church, we are on the brink of a Supernatural miracle that is going to come from the Throne Room of God.
It might seem dead, but thus saith the Lord of host, it is not dead, but very much alive.
It might look like the dream is about to go under, it might look dead, but I know that it is still alive.
I know, without a doubt, that we are about ready to see a supernatural miracle take place in this building.
Just when it looked like the temple would not get rebuilt God got involved.
Not by my might, not by your might, not by my power, not by your power but by God’s Spirit we will go and we will grow.
This church cannot and will not sink because it is God who is doing the work.
It was not built by my hands nor was it built by your hands, but was built by Gods Spirit and by Gods power.
Mathew 6:33
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
James 5:13-18
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. {subject...: of the same nature, that is, a fellow mortal} {earnestly: or, in his prayer}
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
The prayers of righteous people availeth much.
Are we seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness?
Are we living a righteous life?
Closing
Maybe your temple of faith needs to be repaired?
Seek God, and live what the Word says to do and you will be fine.
Satan will try to stop the work, but he has no authority of what God has predestined for your walks of faith.
Church, we really are on the brink of a miracle.
