Topic: What to do when you find yourself in trouble
The word trouble is defined as a state of distress, a state of affliction, a state of danger, or a state of need. It is also defined as a source of difficulty or distress, a source of pain, or heartbreak.
All of us as at one time or another has found themselves in some type of trouble in our lives. Some of the trouble that we found ourselves in were caused by our own doings such as being irresponsible, being careless, being stubborn, or being disobedient to God’s commandments. Then there are some troubles that we found ourselves in are caused by someone else’s irresponsibility, someone else being careless, someone else being stubborn or someone else being disobedient to the Word of God. Yes, all of us has had some experience in some type of trouble in our lives. Job 14:1 says, that “ Man that is born of a woman is of a few days, and full of trouble.“ And also Jesus says in John 16:33 where he says, “In this world you shall have tribulations, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. Yes, we will experience some type of trouble, but just know that since God is on the throne, and Jesus is still real, just know that trouble don’t always last, because weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning.
Now there are so many different types of troubles that comes our way such as:
Health Related Troubles
Money Troubles
Marriage and Realtionship Troubles
Family Troubles
Employment or on the Job troubles
School Troubles
Car Troubles
House Troubles
Church Troubles
Community Troubles
People lying on you Troubles
Background check or Identity Theft Troubles
Now, usually we sometimes think that only bad people are the ones who find themselves in trouble. But that is not the case. You can be a good person, and yet still find yourself in trouble. For example, Joseph was a good person, but yet he was beaten, thrown into a pit, sold into slavery by his own jealous brothers, went to prison for something he did not do. Yes, Joseph was a good person, but yet he experiences some trouble in his life. Another good person that was in trouble was Job. Job was an upright man who loved God, but yet he experienced trouble when he lost all of his possessions, cattle, children all with in a 24 hour period. Then he got real sick. Did he do anything wrong? No, but yet he experience some trouble in his life.
Daniel was a good person, but yet he was thrown into the lion’s den. The three Hebrew Boys, some good boys, but yet they were thrown into the fiery furnace. John the Baptist, a good man, but yet he was beheaded. Paul and Silas, a two good men, but yet they thrown into prison for preaching the gospel. And last but not least, Jesus Christ, a good man, but better yet, the Son of God, who did nothing wrong, but yet he was crucified on the cross. But thank God, that in three day, Jesus rose up out of the grave with all power in his hands which let us know that no matter what trouble you may find yourself in, just know that God is able to help you rise above and have the victory over your troubles. So the question is, what should we do when we find ourselves in trouble?
When we find ourselves in trouble, we need to go to the Lord in prayer. Psalm 121:1-2 says, I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
We need to go to the Lord in prayer when we find ourselves in trouble because it is the Lord who can deliver us out our troubles.
Psalm 34: 4-6 says, “I sought the Lord and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him and were lightened; and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.
Psalm 34:17 says, “The righteous cry and the Lord heareth and delivereth them out of all their troubles.”
Psalm 91:15 says, “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, and honor him.”
Psalm 34:19 says, Many are the affliction of the righteous; but the Lord delivered him out of them all.”
No matter what type of trouble you may find yourself in, just know that the Lord is able to help you and deliver you out of all your troubles. In matter of fact, when you look at each letter in the word trouble, it gives us some instruction what you should do while you are in trouble.
When you find yourself in trouble, Talk to the Lord
Philppians 4:6 says, “Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God.”
When you find yourself in trouble, Run to the Lord
Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it and is safe.”
When you find yourself in trouble, Obey the Lord at all cost
I Samuel 15:22 says “To obey God is better than sacrifice, and to hearken unto the voice of God is better than the fat of rams.”
When you find yourself in trouble, Unite with the Lord by coming to Jesus Christ.
Matthew 11:28-29 says, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden; and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest for your souls.”
When you find yourself in trouble, Believe in the Lord
2nd Charonicles 20:20 says, “Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe in his prophets, so shall ye prosper.”
When you find yourself in trouble, Love the Lord more
Matthew 22:37-39, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind………..And thou shalt love your neighbor as thy self.”
And when you find yourself in trouble, Exalt the Lord in praise
Psalms 34:3-6 says, “Oh magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
Now you are probably asking yourself this question, why should I exalt the Lord in praise while I am in trouble?
The answer to that question is found in Psalm 46:1 where it says, “God is our refuge, and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Yes, you ought to exalt the Lord because God is our refuge in trouble, meaning that He is our protection and He is a shelter in the time of storm. You ought to exalt the Lord because He will give you the strength to get through your trouble. Last but not least, God is a very present help in trouble, which means that God is right there with us in our troubles. He will be right there to help us to get through our troubles. Every step, every minute, every second while you in trouble, God has promised to be right there with us in trouble. The Word of God says this:
Isaiah 41:10 says “Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Isaiah 43:2 says the Lord, “When thou passeth through the waters, I will be with thee and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee; when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”
Hebrews 13:5 says the Lord, “I will never leave thee or forsake”
Matthew 28:20 says the Lord, “I will be with you unto the end of the world.”
