The Prayer of Faith
We have been in a Study of Prayer. We have looked at why we pray, Persistence in Prayer, and Kinds of prayer.
We have been learning how to pray to get results.
I am sure that when we get prayers answered that we will have more confidence in God.
We have talked about kinds of prayer and tonight I want to learn about the way to get THINGS when we pray.
The Prayer of Faith
James 5:13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
We talked last week about this scripture and I want to remind you of some of the things that we saw.
1. If you are sick you call for prayer.
2. The elders or pastor will anoint them with oil.
3. The elders or pastor will pray over the one that is sick.
4. The PRAYER OF FAITH shall save the sick.
5. The Lord shall raise the sick one up.
This is the program that God set up for healing the sick. We know that it is Gods will to Heal, Gods desire to Heal, and this is Gods method of getting Healed.
We need to know WHAT IS THE PRAYER OF FAITH and WHO PRAYES THE PRAYER OF FAITH.
Many believe if they can get the pastor to anoint them “HE WILL PRAY THE PRAYER OF FAITH”.
This scripture does not tell us WHO prays the Prayer of Faith or What the Prayer of faith is.
Mark 11:19And when even was come, he went out of the city.
20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
This is Jesus teaching on the PRAYER OF FAITH.
when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
THE PRAYER of FAITH is believing before you receive. The reason many people do not receive their healing is that they want to see the “SHALL HAVE” BEFORE THEY BELIVE.
The PRAYER of Faith can only be prayed by the one receiving.
Notice the number of times that he says YE in Verse 24.
ye desire ye pray ye receive ye shall have
The PRAYER OF FAITH IS FOR THINGS YOU DESIRE.
Do you desire Healing? Call for prayer, be anointed with oil, the elders or pastor pray for you, your prayer of faith will save the sick and the Lord WILL RAISE THEM UP.
The reason many are not healed when they come to be prayed for, are anointed and the one being prayed for expects someone else to PRAY THE PRAYER OF FAITH.
The PRAYER OF FAITH must be prayed by the one with the desire.
SALVATION is a PRAYER OF FAITH
You believe in your heart Verse 23, you believe what you said Verse 23, have a desire Verse 24, and you believe that you receive it Verse 24.
Nobody can pray a SALVATION PRAYER FOR YOU.
Nobody can pray a PRAYER OF FAITH FOR YOU.
Jesus went about healing the sick and oppressed.
In almost everyone that He healed He said “THY FAITH MADE YOU WHOLE”
Only in one case it was different.
John 5:2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him lie and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled to put me into the pool: but while I am coming another steppeth down before me.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise take up thy bed, and walk
9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked and on the same day was the sabbath.
This man was healed by the Gift of Healing (One of the Gifts of the Spirit) but Jesus asked if he wanted to be healed.
Many like to be a victim and be prayed for and the center of attention but ENJOY THEIR ILLNESS.
The Key to the Prayer of Faith.
Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Verse 23 Tells us to SPEAK to the NEED.
Just as Salvation is secured by our Words so is our Healing or whatever you are praying for.
Keep saying what you are praying. Confession of the Word.
KEEP CALLING THOSE THINGS THAT ARE NOT AS THOUGH THEY WERE.
They must line up with what the Word of God says.
The Prayer of Faith is Based in the Word.
There are 7000 promises in the Word. If you don’t KNOW THEM YOU CANNOT CLAIM THEM.
The prayer of Faith is for “things” and THINGS covers everything from Healing, finances, cars or anything your heart desires.
If you are not into the Word get you a Version of the Word that you understand and start claming the PROMISES OF GOD.
They are all YEA AND AMEN.
THE PRAYER OF FAITH CAN NOT BE PRAYED OVER PEOPLE, ONLY OVER THINGS.
When do we GET our needs or healing or finances?
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
When ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Most of us BELIEVE WHEN WE SEE.
This is why it is called a PRAYER OF FAITH.
WE must Believe FIRST.
We can rejoice over the Raise in Pay, the New Carr that we needed before we see it, BELIEVING AND SAYING AND THANKING GOD WHEN YOU PRAY.
We are told That WE ARE TO WALK BY FAITH AND NOT SIGHT.
When Daniel prayed for an answer and it took 21 Days for the answer to come the ANGEL said GOD HEARD YOU WHEN YOU PRAYED THE FIRST DAY.
John 20:24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
Thomas was like most Christians He did not believe even though all the others said that it was so.
Jesus walked through a solid door and faced Thomas and said “YOU ARE FAITHLESS”
After Thomas saw Jesus he became a believer but Jesus said blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
We are called to be people of Faith; if we are going to get THINGS we must BELIEVE BEFORE WE SEE.
It goes on to say But these are written, that ye might believe.
We KNOW BY HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED, THAT HE WAS BRUSED FOR OUR TWISTED VALUES, THAT WE HAVE PEACE BECAUSE OF WHAT JESUS DID.
This is what it means to have life through his name
We can have Confidence Praying the Word.
1 John 5:14 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
YOUR FAITH BEGINS AND ENDS WHERE THE WORD OF GOD IS KNOWN.
I want to give one Illustration about having confidence when you pray.
My Dad with only a 6th grade education knew the Word of God and believed it.
I found in a pocket notebook a note that he wrote.
He said “I will pay tithes on $10,000.00 this year”. He was only making $5,000.00 per year when he wrote that. I remember my Dad coming home with a W2 Form and telling my mother “WE have finally started making enough money that we can buy a new car”. She asked how much was he making and he said “$10,000 is what I asked God for and that is what I made”
When you REALLY BELIEVE you act like you have it before you see it.
If you want to pray the PRAYER of FAITH then find Gods WILL in His Word and PRAY and God will hear and give you the desires of your heart.

I want your Prayers answered. If you get your prayers answered then you will have more confidence in God and start RECEIVING because YOU BELIEVE.
WE all will be BLESSED as each one of us begin to have Prayers answered. Your Children and Grandchildren will be coming in and you will have good health and the Church will grow because you are having prayers answered.
