It is a New Day
Isaiah 43:18-20
18 “ Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. 20 The beast of the field will honor Me, The jackals and the ostriches, Because I give waters in the wilderness And rivers in the desert, To give drink to My people, My chosen.
Philipians 3: 7-14
7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. 12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Intro:
This is traditionally a time in which we as individuals look back over the last year and make empty promises about our future.
I have read scripture to you that shows we cannot be a people of the past.
Many times our past hinders our present and aborts our future.
Why we must forget the past…
a) Past Positives- We stunt our growth when we get satisfied with what God did yesterday.
Paul said forget the positives each day is a New Day!
b) Past Mistakes- We often miss God’s purpose for our lives because we are caught up in the mistakes in my past.
All have sinned, but all things are made new in Christ.
Let that sin die!
3) Past Pain
Sampson
If you can get past the past realize it is a New Day!
And this is your day!
Isaac redigging the wells in Genesis 26...
1) Quarreling
2) Hatred
3) Rehoboath- Planted and Prosper
What to look for in this day…
1) Release
"Is not this the fast that I have chosen to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the opressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?"
[ISAIAH 58:6]
2) Restoration
"And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar..."
[JOEL 2:25
3) Reward
Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
