Springfield, OH
Monday afternoon service
Difference Makers/ Made To Count
Heb 5: 1 – 4
Heb 5:4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as [was] Aaron.
Difference Makers make an Impact
Our culture today is not designed to have a church service that the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.
Today’s culture is accustomed to multi-media high impact.
This type of impact does not just happen, it takes a lot of preparation, under girding prayer, a teachable spirit that leads to increased effectiveness.
Our services are not merely to influence someone, our singing is not just to influence a person and our preaching is not just in influence somebody but to impact people’s lives.
Difference makers remember there source of strength
They remember effectiveness and impact.
What transforms in public is determined in private.
Prayer moves the hand of God
God transforms the hearts of men.
Difference Makers reproduce;
The senior pastor of the Church in Madisonville spoke of us being the womb of God on earth, we are not the source of life but we are the carriers of the source. We do not generate life but we release through prayer Him who does.
Eph 6: 19 & 20 Paul desired prayer that he would declare the gospel fearlessly as he should.
Col 4.3 & 4 pray that he might proclaim it clearly as he should.
Difference Makers understand we’re not here by sheer accident, that’s how evolutionist believe the world came into existence, I believe God had a plan.
When David meets up with Goliath, David had no ideal what was going to happen as he was taking some corn, bread and cheese to his brothers.
Remember what transforms in public is determined in private.
David hears the intimidation of Goliath no one is doing anything about it except sitting in fear, Peter was the only one to get out of the boat and walk on water while the others sit in fear,
David said “is there not a cause”?
Many ministry opportunities arise from not what we planned but “a cause”, a need.
Are we as ministers and churches making an impact on our communities?
Most churches and preachers alike only think of Sunday service to make an impact but there are ministry needs around us to make a difference every day. It might interrupt your golf game, but..
Nehemiah heard and seen there was a need in Jerusalem for the walls were broken down, he would hath to make an impact to rebuild those walls because he needed people.
To be a Difference Maker we need God’s favor, Strength and power, but never underestimate the need of people.
With ministry opportunities you need a work force of people.
Chuck Swindoll states the key to getting a big job done is people.
He quotes former Secretary of State Colin Powell, Plans don’t accomplish work. Goal charts on walls don’t accomplish work. Even talking papers don’t accomplish work. It is people who get things done.
At the end of the day, when the final tallies are taken, people are the reason why any mission succeeds or fails. This is not to say that plans are not important, its just they themselves are not what count in the final analysis. “No battle plan, Powell said survives contact with the enemy. Accomplishment and victory come directly from the people who are engaged in the action.
Nehemiah called on people who believed the importance of rebuilding the wall. He urged them to step up and their response was “let’s arise and build.” After that response they put their hands to the work. Neh 2.18
Advertisement of some company wanting me to buy into there plan stated “Customer Care makes a difference. And that is true.
When 120 were in the upper room Ac 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Everyone out side the room said ,v11 we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
Those 120 became difference makers with customer care, they took the message outside the walls to potential believers, 3,000 chose to follow Christ.
Many signs and wonders were done through these believers
Going to the temple to worship stop and took time for a potential believer, silver and gold have I none but,,,,
Later they chose out 7 men full of hg to help with customer care.
It takes people for the church to be a Difference Maker in your community, they wanted to make it count.
God has chosen us to be a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, his own special people in order that those who are “without mercy” may now “receive mercy”, that all “outsiders” might become “insiders”.
Too many times I have conducted a service that was a gathering not an assembly.
Gathering is where you meet people and renew old acquaintances.
Assembly is where people meet to conduct business, to make a difference, to make it count.
Leaders that are Difference Makers are called.
Leaders recruit workers
Leaders resource workers and encourage workers.
Pastors we are called to recruit workers and resource them with the things of God to equip the church to reap a harvest that is white ready for harvest.
The farmer that wants his crop in for the harvest will not take a plow in the field at harvest time, he takes the harvesting machine.
When it is time the plow the field he does not take the harvest equipment he takes the plow. At sowing time he takes the planter
What time is it in your church, community?
Are we being Difference Makers if not Why?
If not you then who, if not now then when?
Lets make it count!
