Harvest truly is plenteous.
Matt. 9:37Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Driving last night and saw the combines in the field....It is a season of change, a time of turning.
Its harvest time. The farmers have worked, and toiled and sweat through the hot summer days, for this time of year. They have risen up early in the morning, and worked long days for this day.
Sometimes their families do without for long periods of time, just banking on the day to come, when they go out with the tractors, and combines, and get what the fields have produced.
As it is in the natural, so it is in the spiritual. Many of us have labored, and worked intensely, waiting for the day of the payoff. Waiting for the day, when we hear the trump of God sound off.
1 thess. 4:13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
1 Cor 15: 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
Just as the farmer toils and labors, so have many of us. For some people, life has seemed like a drought, it has seemed like we have gone entire seasons before seeing any rain fall. We have gone through times of pain, long sleepless nights, weeping and waiting for our change to come.
But I’ve got good gospel news for you. Jesus is coming back, and sooner than you might think.
Jesus said in Mt. 24:36 But the day and hour, no man knows, not even the angels in heaven, but only my Father.
His disciples asked when will it be, Jesus said, I can’t say, but I can tell you what to look out for.
Take heed that no man decieve you, for many shall come in my name, saying I am Christ, and shall decieve many.
Wars and rumors of wars, but be not troubled, for all of these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in diverse places, all these are the beginning of sorrows. 9Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. 10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
These are all signs, which are pointing toward the return of Christ. Has anyone ever asked God for a sign?
Lord, if its your will, show me by doing this or that.
This is exactly what the disciples were doing here, asking for a sign.
The bible gives many other signs of what the last days will be like upon this earth.
In that day, there shall be a famine, not for food, nor for water, but a famine for hearing the word of God.
1 Tim. 4:1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,
2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,
3 men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth.
Its not hard to see, that we are truly living in preparation of the end time harvest. Its Harvest time.
No doubt many of us have spent sleepless nights. Seasons of discouragement, and depression. We have watched as people that we have loved have slipped through our hands, and gone on to be with the Lord.
We have had countless trials, and tests, physically, financially, emotionally, and spiritually, and sat up in the midnight hour, wondering why.
How could this happen to me, if God truly loves me? Why do bad things happen to good people?
But the bible says that God is not the author of confusion, but of love. He has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power and of love, and of a sound mind. God has not caused the pain in your life, but he has brought about the relief.
Jesus said the theif comes to kill steal and destroy, but I have come that you might have life, and have it more abundantly.
The trials and tests in life are not there to take you out, but they do come to make you stronger.
“I don’t think I can handle anymore” God knows what you can handle, he knows your weight limit, and the amount of stress and pain that you can take, In fact he said, I will never put more on you than you can bear. He will never allow his righteous to be forsaken.
When it seems like life has put more on you, its time to shift the load, off of your shoulders, and onto the Lord. He said come unto me those of you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.
Jesus told Paul, my grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in your weakness.
God is able and willing, and ready to take the load that you bear.
This word is for someone tonight. You have gone through the valley, and you wonder why it has been so hard, its because you are on your way to the mountain top.
God said he who goes forth weeping, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again bringing his sheaves with him. You’ve spent the nights lying awake in bed, praying about your situation, and now the promise is for you, that though weeping may endure for a night, joy comes in the morning.
Your harvest is near.
