JOHN 6:60-69 “GOING AWAY FROM GOD – PART 1”
A) Christ was teaching about Himself being the “bread from heaven” in v.53-59!
* In v.60, they said, “This is a hard saying, who can hear (understand) it?”
* v.64 tells us that some just wouldn’t believe, and because of this unbelief, many turned back and
walked no more with Him … They went away from God!
* I want to give you several individuals who are going away from God this morning …….
(1) AMERICA IS GOING AWAY FROM GOD!
A) America, who one time stood high, has dropped her morals and standards!
* She once stood for biblical standards, but now, has them no more. * Here’s proof …….
B) America has taken God and prayer out of schools! * Psa. 9:17 “The wicked shall be …”
* Homosexuals are very proud now of who and what they are … Same sex marriage.
* They are even in the White House … Military … Sports … Even in churches (Gay churches).
* They are not ashamed anymore! * Rom. 1:24-32 …….
C) Abortion … Some call it abortion, but God calls it murder!
* One of the biggest stories in our nation is really a wake-up call from God.
* Will we hear it? * More important, will we respond?
D) In the United States, the life of a dog is worth more than the life of a human being!
* The nation has been closely following the story of NFL superstar quarterback Michael Vick.
* It has come to light over the past 6 years that Vick financed and was an active participant in
running a dog fighting enterprise … Fighting dogs is illegal in all 50 states.
E) Additionally, hundreds of thousands of dollars were illegally gambled on these dog fights!
* And what has enraged most people, was the inhumane treatment of these animals including
killing them in numerous brutal ways.
* Vick has not only been linked to financing this dog fighting operation, but gambling on the fights
and personally killing several of the dogs who didn’t perform well.
F) Today, I want to bring a whole new perspective to the Michael Vick story that you won’t hear
on the news or read about in the papers!
* In the United States in the year 2007, it is illegal to kill a dog but legal to kill a baby!
* Let me say that one more time since I want this FACT to really sink in.

E) Does that put the whole Vick story in a different light and show just how spiritually bankrupt
we are as a nation? * Want more?
* Michael Vick is going to be going to prison for anywhere from 1-5 years for killing dogs …….
* Yet every single day all over this nation, doctors are slaughtering 4,000 babies and going home to
their families at the end of the day.
F) Michael Vick has been kicked out of the NFL and will be going to prison for killing dogs …
* But the doctors who are paid very well to kill over 4,000 babies EVERY SINGLE DAY in this
nation are free!
G) Another aspect of the Vick case that I have watched closely is the outrage by people
regarding what he did to these dogs!
* You’ll be hard pressed to find anyone who even tries to support, let alone, condone what Vick
did … It has virtually been a universal response of condemnation for what he did to these dogs. * What baffles me is where is that same universal condemnation over the fact we kill 4,000 babies
in this nation every day?
* How can the masses get so riled up over the inhumane treatment and killing of a handful of dogs,
yet sit back in silence as every 24 hours another 4,000 babies are slaughtered?
H) Here is an interesting side note that can’t go unnoticed …….
* PETA, the liberal People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, have been front and center in
calling for Vick’s hide …….
* And they have exploited the Vick story to raise millions of dollars for their cause.
* The hypocrisy is that the vast percentage of people who follow and support PETA also support a
woman’s right to kill her baby.
I) So you have this animal rights advocacy group who takes every opportunity to bully and
intimidate people who have anything to do with animals …….
* All the way from how cows and chickens are slaughtered to the way animals are killed by fast
food restaurants to the killing of animals to make fur coats …….
* Leading the charge against Vick for fighting and killing dogs, yet this same group supports the
killing of babies!
J) The real story of the sad and sickening Michael Vick dog fighting/killing tragedy is that in
this nation we clearly put more value on the life of an animal than we do a human!
* It is clear that the life of a dog is more important to society than the life of a baby.
* This is the only conclusion you can draw since it is illegal to kill dogs but not babies, and
someone like Vick who is found guilty of killing dogs is going to prison …….
* While the doctors who kill babies live in freedom … So society has determined that the
life of a dog is more important than the life of a baby.
K) This is so critical, since now it’s easy to understand why we are in the spiritual abyss we find
ourselves in today!
* The truth of the Bible has been replaced by “every man doing what is right in their own eyes.”
* You see … It’s no longer God our Creator who determines truth … Each person is deciding that
for themselves.
* That is why people now accept homosexual relationships that God clearly calls a sin, redefining
what God said marriage and the family were to be!
L) When men determine what truth is, that is how you end up with the mass outrage over the
death of a few dogs, yet no response at all to the daily slaughter of 4,000 babies!
* Nothing more exemplifies this than the Vick case.
* Let me clearly state that I believe those who treat animals in an inhumane way should be
punished … Dog fighting is a barbaric sport that should be against the law.
* Those who kill dogs for sport should be prosecuted.
M) I don’t feel sorry for Michael Vick at all and whatever he gets he deserves!
* However, the point I want you to understand today is that as heinous and horrible as Vick’s
actions were …….
* The disconnect comes when heinous and horrible acts on a human being are not only legal, but
supported by millions of people.
* Many of the same people who have gone ballistic about what Vick did to a few dogs, go equally
ballistic if you talk about outlawing the killing of babies.
N) If you ever needed a reminder regarding the depth of spiritual decay in this country, the
Michael Vick case is that reminder!
* The reality is that in this country, the life of a dog is more precious than the life of a baby!
* God have mercy on us all. * Let’s see what the Bible has to say about abortion …….
NOW HERE IS THE ARGUMENT … IS THE UNBORN CHILD A HUMAN BEING?
A) The fetus is a human being, an individual at the moment of conception!
* Some say that up until the seventh month, it’s nothing but a blob of tissue.
* That is not true … It is a distinct and separate life altogether!
B) Let the Word of God speak and dispute this statement that the fetus is a blob of tissue!
* Jer. 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the
womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
* Isa. 49:1 “The LORD hath called me from the womb;”
* Isa. 49:5 “And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant,”
C) Now, turn with me to Psalm 139:13-16 …….
* Can I also add that doctors take an oath to save life, not kill it … They’re hypocrites!
* Doctors have no respect for life when they do an abortion, and they’ll answer to God for it!
* Story of woman in doctor’s office who came for an abortion … The doctor recently got saved.
D) Remember God’s death penalty for murder in Gen. 9:6? * Notice: This was before law!
* “Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made …”
* Exo. 21:12 “He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.”
* Matt. 26:52 “Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that
take the sword shall perish with the sword.”
* Rev. 13:10 “… he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword.” * Rom. 13:1-6
E) Abortion is shedding blood and God has put something in His law concerning abortion!
* Exo. 21:22-23 “If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and
yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay
upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,”
G) Babies are a gift from God and ought to be received as that!
* In the Bible we’re taught that God gave children in answer to prayer!
* Abraham and Sarah … Isaac and Rebekah … Rachel … Zacharias and Elizabeth (John the
Baptist) … Joseph and Mary (Jesus Christ) …
* Yes … Abortion is murder and America is going away from God!

The Diary Of An Unborn Baby
Oct. 2 … Today, my life began. My parents don’t know it yet. I am as small as the pollen of a
flower, but it is I already. I will be a girl. I will have blonde hair and blue eyes. Nearly
everything is settled already, even that I shall love birds.
Oct. 19 … I’ve grown a little, but I’m still too small to do anything by myself. My mother does
everything for me, although she doesn’t know that she is carrying me under her heart.
But I am a real person just as a crumb is still real bread. My mother exists and I do too.
Oct. 23 … My mouth is just now beginning to open. Just think, in a year or so I’ll be laughing and
later I’ll start to talk. My first word will be mama. I love you mama.
Oct. 25 … Today, my heart began to beat. It will beat softly for the rest of my life, never stopping.
After many years, it will tire and stop, then I shall die.
Nov. 2 … I’m growing continually. My arms and legs are taking shape, but I must wait a long
time before these tiny legs will raise me to my mother’s arms, before these little arms
will be able to conquer the earth and befriend people.
Nov. 12 … Tiny fingers are beginning to form on my hands. How small they are. One day I’ll
stroke my mother’s hair and tell her how nice she is.
Nov. 20 … Only today the doctor told my mother that I’m living here under her heart. How happy
she must be. Are you happy mother?
Nov. 25 … My mother and father are probably thinking about a name for me. And they don’t even
know that I’m a cute little girl, so they are probably calling me Andy. But I want to be
called Barbara. I’m growing so big.
Dec. 10 … My hair is growing. It’s as bright and as shiny as the sun. I wonder what kind of hair
my mother has.
Dec. 13 … My eyes are almost fully developed, although the lids are still shut. When mother
brings me into the world, it will be full of sunshine or overflowing with flowers.
I’ve never seen a flower, you know, but more than anything I want to see my mother.
How do you look mother?
Dec. 24 … My fingers and toes are fully formed, even my nails are beginning to develop.
Dec. 26 … I wonder if my mother hears the delicate beat of my heart? Some children are born
with sickly hearts and then the gentle fingers of the doctor perform miracles to make
them healthy. But my heart is healthy. It beats so evenly: Tup-tup … Tup-tup.”
You shall have a healthy baby daughter mother.
Dec. 28 … Today, my mother killed me.
