YOUR SEEING EYE DOG!
John 16:12-13 (KJV)
“12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”
Many restaurants and other public buildings have a sign on the door that says, No Animals Except Service Animals Allowed. What in the world is a service animal?
Maybe you have seen a person carrying a big white cane with a big dog. These dogs are usually German Shepherds, but can be Labrador Retrievers or Golden Retrieves. This person is blind and this dog is not with him because he likes dogs for a pet, but this dog is his guide or Seeing Eye dog. A Seeing Eye dog can go anywhere the owner can go.
The proper name for these animals is guide dogs. They were originally called this, but the first training school was called a Seeing Eye training center. Many individuals began to refer to them as Seeing Eye dogs. The Seeing Eye dogs provide guidance and companionship to these individuals. This supports the notion that a dog is man’s best friend.
These dogs are highly trained and they are matched with their owner’s personality. These dogs are considered to be working dogs. They are personal trained for the individual that will get them. These dogs must be gentle tempered. These dogs are generally free to the blind person. These dogs provide assistance for the individual that is blind or visual impaired. There are several organizations that give Seeing Eye dogs to these individuals at no cost to them.
One of the first Seeing Eye dog schools was founded in America in 1929. Their goal is to assist the blind people achieve some independence. This keeps the blind person from having to depend on someone to help them with all of their activities.
•John 16:12-13 (NIV) “12 I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”
•The Spirit of truth is the Holy Ghost.
•The Holy Ghost will teach or guide us into all truth.
•God is a perfect gentleman, and He will not force anything on us that we do not want.
•God created us with the power of choice.
•The Seeing Eye dog is the guide for the blind, and the Holy Ghost is the guide for the Spiritual Blind or handicapped.
•There are several conditions required to receive.
•In Matthew 13 we find a parable of a sower.
•The sower went forth and sowed the seeds.
•Some fell by the wayside.
•Some fell upon stony ground.
•Some fell among thorns.
•Some fell on good ground.
•The seeds that fell on good ground brought forth fruit.
•We must have fallow or soft ground in order for the seeds to take root and grow.
•Seed that grows are planted on good ground.
•We must allow the Holy Ghost or God’s Spirit to lead us.
•There is a difference between lead and drive.
•We must listen for and to God’s voice.
•He speaks to us though His Word.
•He speaks to us through the ministry.
•He speaks to us in a still small voice.
•We must be sensitive to His still small voice and His spirit.
•We must be open before God in-order to receive from Him.
•Open when He tells us things we don’t want to hear
•Guide = to point out the way, direct on a course, to conduct, to lead, to direct by course or motion, to give instruction, to train, to act as a guide, a person that guides, a person who directs, or serves as the model for another’s conduct.
•Guidebook a book giving instructions, containing directions and information for tourists.
•The Word of God is our guidebook.
•The Bible tells us how to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord.
•He desires to be our guide even until death.
•He desires to give us guidance continually.
•He will guide our feet into the way of peace.
•We are not able to see except He guides us.
•In John chapter 5 we read of a crippled man that Jesus healed.
•The man was sitting at a pool waiting for the moving of the water.
•An angel came down and troubled the water and the 1st person that stepped into the water was healed of whatever that was wrong with him.
•The man at pool did not have any man to guide him.
•Jesus came by and troubled the water for this individual.
•The water is troubled for you today.
•He has the answer for whatever your need is.
•It is time for you to jump into the troubled water.
•Jesus has come by today to do a work in your life.
•Jesus wants to work in your life today.
•He desires to guide you into all truth.
•You may ask the question, what is truth?
•The dictionary tells us that truth is the quality or state of being true, loyalty, sincerity, genuine, honesty, conformity with fact, reality, agreement with a standard, rule accuracy, that which is true, an established or verified fact, principle.
•Jesus said that He was the way, truth, and life. (John 14:6)
•Pilate asked Jesus what is truth. (John 18:38)
•Jesus said that His Word was truth. (John 17:17)
•Truth denotes that which is opposed to falsehood.
•Truth means fidelity or truthfulness.
•We are living in a generation when lies are common.
•Telling the truth is still right.
•We must walk right according to the Word of God.
•The doctrine of Christ is called the truth of the gospel.
•Galatians 2:14 (KJV) “But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?”
•We are to worship God in Spirit and Truth. (John 4:24)
•We are to serve Him in truth.
•He told us to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve Him with all our heart and soul. (Deuteronomy 10:12)
•We are to love the truth. (Zechariah 8:19)
•We should desire the truth in our inward parts. (Psalms 51:6)
•We should all speak the truth. (Ephesians 4:25)
•We are to speak the truth in love. (Ephesians 4:15)
•We are to know the truth, and it will make us free. (John 8:32)
•We are to be established in the truth. (2 Peter 1:12)
•We are to walk in the truth. (3 John 3)
•We must rightly divide the Word of Truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
•God is a God of truth.
•The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth.
•Heaven and earth will pass away, but His Word will not pass away. (Mt 24:35)
•It is time for us to take a stand for truth.
•We are instructed to buy the truth, and sell it not. (Proverbs 23:23)
•Are you allowing God’s Spirit to be your seeing eye dog?
