“God Is Our Redeemer”
Text: Job 19:25
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
Meaning: Redeemer-- גּאל gâ’al gaw-al’
A primitive root, to redeem (according to the Oriental law of kinship), that is, to be the next of kin (and as such to buy back a relative’s property, marry his widow, etc.): - X in any wise, X at all, avenger, deliver, (do, perform the part of near, next) kinsfolk (-man), purchase, ransom, redeem (-er), revenger.
Introduction:
Wow! It is wonderful to know that we have a Redeemer, one will buy us back from sin and even deem (consider) to marry us. For when you and I were born we were married to sin which was a hard task master instead of a loving husband. Then thankfully sometime in life we running to one (Christ Jesus) who shows us love and compassion, and say if you will die to your husband who is sin I will bring you back to life and marry you, because I am the next to kin.
For this to happen our Redeemer had to preform Redemption for us so that He could Redeem us for His own. It was a great price that He had to pay but He was determined to do what ever He needed to do to Redeem us for His own. Here is a well fitting illustration that paints the picture perfectly.
"God’s Grace Shown To Us"
The Enemy of the world, Satan, was on the side of life’s road with a very large cage. The man coming towards him noticed that it was crammed full of people of every kind, young, old, from every race and nation."
Where did you get these people?" the man asked. "Oh, from all over the world," Satan replied. "I lure them with drinking, drugs, lust, lies, anger, hate, love of money, and all manner of things. I pretend I’m their friend, out to give them a good time, then when I’ve hooked them, into the cage they go. "And what are you going to do with them now?" asked the man.
Satan grinned. "I’m going to prod them, provoke them, get them to hate and destroy each other; I’ll stir up racial hatred, defiance of law and order; I’ll make people bored, lonely, dissatisfied, confused and restless. It’s easy. People will always listen to what I offer them and (what’s better) blame God for the outcome!" "And then what?" the man asked." Those who do not destroy themselves, I will destroy. None will escape me."
The man stepped forward. "Can I buy these people from you?" he asked.
Satan snarled, "Yes, but it will cost you your life."
So Jesus Christ, the Son of God, paid for your release, your freedom from Satan’s trap, with His own life, on the cross at Calvary. The door is open, and anyone, whom Satan has deceived and caged, can be set free.
To Redeem us He had to pay a price.
The price that our Redeemer had to pay had to be done through the shedding of all His blood that flowed through His body. He was willing to do anything to buy us for His own bride..So, to Calvary He went and was hung on a Old Rugged Cross with nails piercing His hands and feet with a sword opening His side to help drain every drop out of His body. When He said it was “Finished” that meant His work on this earth. He left this earth and went straight to Hell to finish off the plan by taking the keys of death, hell, and the grave from Satan. Now, that our Redeemer had paid the price. It was time for the next step.
To Redeem us He had to show His Power.
He showed His power through His resurrection from the grave three days later when He had show Satan up but taking the keys from him. Through the power of His resurrection we now have a choice to make whether or not we want to be His bride or stayed married to our hard task master. If the choice is make to stay married to the hard task master, he will make a lot of promises that either he will not or can not keep. The final destination, for the ones who choose to stay married to the hard task master, will be a place of total darkness and ex-stream heat and fire. This place will be 100’s of time hotter than the fiery that the three Hebrew men were thrown into in the book of Daniel.
For those who choose to be the bride of the Redeemer the promises that He makes He will keep those promises. He says, He will give us peace, joy, contentment, and success here on earth. He has promised to help us when we tempted to go back to our old partner, the hard task master. Jeremiah says: “Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.” (Jeremiah 50:34) Showing us His power keep us here on earth is just another step. There is one more to look at.
To Finalize the Redemption He is preparing us a place to live with Him.
He may allow us to live comfortably while here on earth but the place that He is preparing for us in Heaven is indescribable in our earthly language. John 14: 1-3 “ Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” The wedding day will so be up on us. If you have not chosen to be His bride, you must do so quickly. For you that have chosen to be His bride keep the communication lines open between you and the bridegroom because He is going to come and take us to be married in a time when we least expect Him to come for us. Stay awake and keep watching for Him to come. That day is going to be an exciting day when it takes place for those who have chosen to be His bride, but for those who have not chosen to be His bride it will be a tragic day for you.
Conclusion:
In closing I wonder if there would any one who is not chosen to be His bride would like to make that choice this morning. Maybe you have chosen to be His bride but there is a Big battle going on with in you and you feel like you are almost to lost the battle would you like to communicate it to the bridegroom this morning?
