WHERE ART THOU ?
Intro: God had completed the heavens and the Earth. (2:1)
God sets the pattern for a day of rest. (2:2)
Man had perfect fellowship with God (walked with Him) (1:29)
God had provided every thing for man’s needs.
God commanded man to not touch or eat from the tree of knowledge.
Adam names all the “beast of the field, and foul of the air”
God creates woman from a rib of Adam. (2:22)
Adam sees his help meet and names her woman (2:23)
The serpent deceives them into eating of the tree of knowledge.
God comes for their daily walk, and calls for Adam
Text: (Genesis 3:1-9)
The question God ask is endless in it’s meaning.
God didn’t ask “where art thou” because He didn’t know.
God asked“where art thou” so that they would realize where they were.
I. WHERE ART THOU, PHYSICALLY ?
A. Adam & Eve were in Paradise
B. A place where he enjoyed the presence of God
C. Adam & Eve was entertaining evil
D. They were in a forbidden spot
E. God calls to them…. “WHERE ART THOU”
1. look at where your at
2. look at your surroundings
3. look at who you with
4. look at what you’ve done
II. WHERE ART THOU, EMOTIONALLY ?
A. They doubted God’s Word “thou shalt surely die”
B. They wanted God’s blessings the devils way…(v.5)
C. They were full of shame (v.7)
D. They had traded tranquility… for fear (v.10)
III. WHERE ART THOU, SPIRITUALLY ?
A. They were dead spiritually
1. no fellowship with God
2. Their innocence replaced by guilt and shame
B. They were ashamed
C. They were confused
D. They were remorseful
E. They were fearful
F. They were guilty
Closing:
Their downfall was entertaining the lies of Satan.
1. The serpent appears as an angle of light
2. The serpent appears as a creditable messenger from Heaven
3. She receives him without fear or surprize (she trust him)
4. He gets them to question their understanding of God’s will
5. “God would not keep anything good thing from you” (v.6)
