Five All’s

2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
“All grace…always...all sufficiency…all things…all good work”
In the original Greek, “every” is the word from which we get all.
There are many “alls” in the scriptures, five of which embody the message of the Gospel.
1. The “ALL” of sin.
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
We are all in the same category.
No person is without sin, nor was there any who was born free from sin.
We are all descendants of Adam, therefore all are born sinners.
Isaiah declared, “All we like sheep have gone astray…..and the Lord hath laid upon Him the iniquity of us all.”
Weather you study the New Testament or the Old Testament, Genesis or Revelation, Psalms or Matthew, we find the same grim picture.
Man was born into sin, shaped in iniquity, wicked in his heart.
Without God, man is helplessly and hopelessly bound for Hell.
What is sin?
The subject has been heavily debated and many times grossly interoperated, but the Bible makes it very clear.
1 John 3:4
…..Sin is the transgression of the law.
God has not changes His mind about His law.
Heaven and Earth may pass away, but not one single part My word shall ever pass away.
When God thundered out “THOU SHALT NOT,” He was not making a suggestion.
The Law was clear about sin, as well as the penalty for sin, separation from God.
To remedy the penalty of sin, God sent His only begotten Son.
The penalty for sin leads us to our next point….
2. The ‘ALL” of sacrifice.
The penalty for sin was a sacrifice.
1 Timothy 2:5&6
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men-the testimony given in its proper time.
A Ransom for all literally means “a procuring price.”
Nothing else could have satisfied God, and nothing else is needed to satisfy God, for in Jesus, God provided what God demanded.
God demands righteousness, and holiness, and only He could have provided the sacrifice for sin.
God’s provision for sin does not mean that He condones sin, or has turned His head from sin, it means that He loves us so much that He GAVE HIMSELF AS A RANSOM FOR ALL.
We sing the song:
Such love, such wondrous love, such love, such wondrous love,
That God could love a sinner such as I,
How wonderful a love like this.
Oh how He loves you and me, Oh how He loves you and me,
He gave His life what more could He give,
Oh how He loves you, Oh how He loves me,
Oh how He loves you and me.
2 Peter 3:9
God is not willing that any perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Luke 19:10
For the Son of man came to seek and to save that which is lost.
If you are lost, Jesus is seeking for you.
3. The “ALL” of supply.
Since God spared not His own Son – the most precious Jewel in Heaven – He will not spare us anything.
There are thousands of people today all around us in shelters, homes, and other states that have questions with no answer from the hurricane Katrina that just hit this past week.
Why? God why did this happen? Why did you allow it to happen?
To help a little with that Question, we must look at the life of Job.
Job was human and did not understand either.
He said, “The Lord giveth and He taketh away.”
Job was not punished by God.
God did not take away his possessions, the devil did.
One thing we do see here is that Job’s trust and faith in God was not tied up in what he had, but whom he served.
We do see that God supplied for Job twice as what was taken.
The greatest thing that God has supplied for us is His atonement through grace and mercy.
But my God shall supply ALL of your needs……
God is not a taker, He is a giver:
James 1:17
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
If you’re here this morning and have been affected by Katrina, God will take care of you.
The outpouring of love that is being shard is not from man, but from God in man.
4. The “ALL” of sanctification.
We are sanctified through the blood, the word, and by the Holy Spirit.
From glory to glory He is changing me.
Sanctified means to be cleansed.
Titus 2:11-14
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope-the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
5. The “ALL” of service.
Colossians 3:17, 23-24
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
We are not saved just to be saved from Hell, but to serve the Lord and the church.
We will be rewarded for our faithful service, for our good deeds that we do for God.
Matthew 25:34-40
"Then the King will say to those on his right, `Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
"Then the righteous will answer him, `Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
"The King will reply, `I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
