Title: “Enoch and Eve”
Can you imagine the dinner conversation that Adam and Eve must have had the day that she taken of the forbidden. Adam must have asked Eve about the Devil. What is he like?
What Eve might have said to her husband?
Satan is
So Wonderful?
(Gen 3:6 KJV) And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
The terrible reality of sin is that at first it seems so wonderful. The fruit was pleasant to the eyes. There is pleasure in sin… for a season. Eve must have told Adam how wonderful her day had been with the serpent in the midst of the garden.
Satan is
So Powerful?
(Rom 7:15 KJV) For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
(Rom 7:23 KJV) But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
(Rom 7:24 KJV) O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Why did God allow Satan to seem so “wise?” The serpent seemed to be an expert on all of the subjects, including God.
At first sin seems wonderful. But all too soon, sin becomes addictingly powerful! I am sure that Eve had no intentions of ever eating the forbidden fruit. But the fruit became irresistible to her.
I am convinced that those addicted to various forms of sin, would rather not participate in their failure, but the addiction of sin is too powerful for them to control. They have become a servant to sin.
Satan is
So Hurtful?
(Rom 7:11 KJV) For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
Think of how hurtful sin can be. Adam no longer could enjoy the beauty of God’s natural garden, he would have to work by the sweat of his face. Eve’s first children came as twins. That had to have hurt. Can you imagine how difficult it must have been to have attended to the funeral of their murdered Son, Able? Especially knowing that it was their oldest Son, Cain, who had been the murderer?
And now the contrasting Story of Enoch:
(Gen 5:21 KJV) And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:
(Gen 5:22 KJV) And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
(Gen 5:21 KJV) And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:
(Gen 5:22 KJV) And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
(Gen 5:23 KJV) And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
(Gen 5:24 KJV) And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
Can you imagine What Enoch might have said to his wife at the dinner table when she might have asked of him how that he had spent his day?
Jesus is
So Wonderful!
(1 John 1:3 KJV) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
Enoch had been walking with the Lord. Certainly the Lord had revealed to him many amazing things about his creation as they went from place to place.
Jesus was loving. When the disciples follow Jesus from place to place, Jesus was always caring for the uncared for. Jesus was and is wonderful.
Jesus is
So Powerful!
(Psa 19:1 KJV) The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork.
Jesus would say to Enoch, “I made that!”
It is true that Satan has great power. But Jesus has the greater power. The power of Satan could put Lazarus in a tomb. The power of Jesus could bring Lazarus back to life.
Those who are in bondage to sin, need the power of Christ to set them free!
Jesus is
So Helpful!
(Psa 107:13 KJV) Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.
(Psa 107:14 KJV) He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.
(Psa 107:15 KJV) Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
(Psa 107:16 KJV) For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.
Satan can only introduce people to the wages of sin, Christ offers to those would come to him the power of eternal life!
Do you know Jesus?
It is obvious to your wife or to your husband who you have been walking with throughout the day. It was obvious to Adam that his wife had been walking with the Devil. It was obvious to Enoch’s wife, that he had spent his day walking with Jesus.
Who are you going to walk with today?
