The Power of Praise
Psalm 95:6, 7
Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the LORD our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over,
the sheep under his care. Oh, that you would listen to his voice today!
Ps 95:6,7
I. WE WORSHIP THROUGH THANKSGIVING.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving. Let us sing him
psalms of praise. Ps. 95:2
"When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He has given you." Deuteronomy 8:10
15And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. Luke 17:15
II. WE WORSHIP GOD THROUGH PRAISE.
Praise comes from a Latin word meaning "value" or "price." Thus, to give praise to God is to proclaim His merit or worth.
I will remember the works of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds." Psalm 77:11-12
"Come and hear, all you who fear God, And I will declare what He has done for my soul." Psalm 66:16
III. WE WORSHIP GOD THROUGH GIVING.
6But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 cor 9:6
IV. WE WORSHIP GOD THROUGH PRAYER.
"So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." Luke 11:9
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." James 5:16
V. WE WORSHIP GOD THROUGH THE WORD.
"Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven." Ps.119:89
"Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts." Jer.15:16
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Tim. 3:16
VI. WE WORSHIP GOD THROUGH OBEDIENCE.
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship." Rom.12:1
18“Come now, let us argue this out,” says the LORD. “No matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can remove it. I can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you as white as wool. 19If you will only obey me and let me help you, then you will have plenty to eat. Isa 1:18,19
