The Mind of Christ
Philippians 2:1-5
Be sober, be vigilant, be strong – all of these words can describe what it takes for a Christian to have the mind of Christ. We must truly be sober – recognize what we are doing and why we are doing it on a daily basis. We must be vigilant in doing everything that we can for Christ – and really vigilance is the same thing as being strong for the Lord and in His word. Tonight, we are going to focus on exactly what Paul considered to be the Mind of Christ – apply his thoughts to our lives and to the life of our church.
TEXT
I. Be Loving and Unified
a. God wants His children to get along and be unified in the Faith.
b. God wants His children to be humble in everything that is done. It is not the children who should be worried about the credit – it is God who deserves all credit for His great and mighty workmanship.
c. God saves the lost – we do not.
II. Be concerned of others, not self
a. God wants you to be an humble servant – not a cocky rooster.
b. John 13 – example of servant leadership
i. Motive of Christ was Love. His motivation was seeing the need of love in others. His mission in life was to bring love to others.
c. Our mission as a church is to bring love to this community – to minister to the needs of this area – to love one another.
