For a night.
1 Kings 19: 4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree; and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, “It is enough; now, O LORD, take my life, for I am not better than my fathers.”
5 He lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and behold, there was an angel touching him, and he said to him, “Arise, eat.”
6 Then he looked and behold, there was at his head a bread cake baked on hot stones, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank and lay down again.
7 The angel of the LORD came again a second time and touched him and said, “Arise, eat, because the journey is too great for you.”
8 So he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mountain of God.
Elijah had just been through one of the greatest tests of God throughout the entire bible at this point. He just came through the showdown with the prophets of baal, and God showed up victoriously. He then went down to the river and killed them all, but just as soon as he heard that Jezebel was after him, he ran off. This is where we find him now, under the juniper tree. And the angel said to him Arise and eat.
Its time to get up.
Joshua 7: 9For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?
10And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face? 11Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff. 12Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you. 13Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.
Its time to get up.
Psalms 30: 4 Sing praise to the LORD, you His godly ones, And give thanks to His holy name.5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night, But joy comes in the morning.
There is a time to laugh and a time to cry. But right now its time to get up.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the lord shall deliver them out of them all.
If you dwell in the past, then you will die in the past.
Many of us are letting something that happened to us 5 years ago, drag us down, and beat us up, but just as the lord said unto Elijah, and Joshua, get thee up. Get up.
Paul said this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
It is a lie from the pits of hell, to keep you bound up and angry over something that happened 20 years ago. Forget the battles that you have lost.
We’ve got to learn to deal with the issues from our past, in order to move forward into what God would have us to be.
In this world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.
33For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Is. 60: 1 “Arise, shine; for your light has come,
And the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.
Is. 43:18 “Do not call to mind the former things,
Or ponder things of the past.
19 “Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.
20 “The beasts of the field will glorify Me,
The jackals and the ostriches,
Because I have given waters in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert,
To give drink to My chosen people.
21 “The people whom I formed for Myself
Will declare My praise.#
Hag. 2: 9 ‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘and in this place I will give peace,’ declares the LORD of hosts.”
