After its own kind
Gardening season is here. It’s that time of year to get out the seeds, and starts, and start to plant. We garden because we like to enjoy the fruit of our labor. No one sows just to let the weeds take over. It’s a lot of work, but it is well worth the wait.
Tilling up the rocky soil, and then sowing the seeds. Then going out and doing some type of maintenance pulling the weeds, or bugs, or trying to keep out the animals from eating the goods.
When we think of a garden, we think of the reproducing of the fruit. How you can take a seed that is so small, and with the proper care, it becomes a full grown fruit.
The bible teaches us that sowing and reaping is a law that has been from the beginning, and will continue throughout the ages. Everything reproduces after its own kind.
Genesis 1:11-12 And God said, let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tre yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in its self upon the earth, and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in its self, after his kind, and God saw that it was good.
Pray.
And God saw that it was good. God liked the idea of the seed being in its self, and being able to reproduce accordingly. Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived, God is not mocked for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.
Gen. 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
God told Noah, that as long as the earth exists, there will always be seed time and harvest. This is a law from God, that he promises us will never fail. As long as the world turns, men will be sowing, and men will be reaping.
Remember, that a law from God is a law to God. He sets standards for men, and for himself by his word. Ps. Tells us that God has placed his name above all things, and his word above his name.
God’s word is his written promise to each and everyone in here that will just believe. Every written word of the bible is important, because it is applicable to us today. God set a law back in the days of Noah, that is just as prevalent today, as it was back then.
This scripture can be applied to us on every level and circumstance in our lives. The law of sowing and reaping. Sometimes we say it differently, but we still mean the same things.
There is a song that I used to listen to called what goes around comes around, and while not exactly scriptural, it is biblical. The way that you treat others, will ultimately come back around to you.
Why? Because this is the seed that you have sown.
If you are mean and hateful to other people, then it will come back to you in the same way. This is sowing and reaping.
The bible says give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down shaken together and running over shall men give unto your bosom. This is sowing and reaping.
Prov. 3:9-10 Honor the Lord with your substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase, so shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst with new wine, this is sowing and reaping. It is reproducing after its own kind.
Everything must reproduce after its own kind, because it is a law from God.
Trees will reproduce trees, flowers reproduce flowers, and humans reproduce humans.
We are going to go deeper. On a personal level, the way that you live, will be reproduced in others that are around you. If you are a Christian, and you are always talking about people to other Christians, then that will seem like it is o.k. to do.
If you are a Christian that is always defeated and down trodden, you are going to reproduce the same type of spiritual offspring in people who look up to you, or whom you are ministering to. We as Christians are to be examples unto those around us.
The bible gives us many examples of men who reproduced after their own kind spiritually. If you take a look at the descendants of Adam and Eve. Cain, and Abel of course were the first, but after Abel was killed, then came the next son named Seth. We will look at the 2 lines and compare.
The family line of Cain who started out by murdering his brother out of Jealousy
Some of the descendants were Irad-whose name means “Fugative” Mehujael-whose name means Smitten of God, and Lamech- whose name means Wildman are just a few of the examples.
The family line of Seth produced such men as Mehalalel – whose name meant praise of God, Then there was Enoch- whose name meant Dedicated, and as we know walked with God, and was taken to heaven without ever dying. And then to Noah, who the bible says walked with God, and was just, perfect, and upright.
Another example was Elijah, and Elisha. Elijah was a great prophet of God, who experienced somw hard times, but was a great role model for his protégé. Elisha was so awed by the miracles that Elijah did that he asked for a double portion of the anointing that was on his life, and received, and did 2x the miracles of his mentor.
Everything reproduces after its own kind.
The bible tells us of another situation where a great man of God reproduced other great men of God. We all know the story of David vs. Saul
Saul was chosen by the people, to be the King of Israel……anointed with a flask of oil.
David was chosen by God, he was anointed with a horn of oil, which is created by God.
David was called a man after God’s own heart. Therefore God was the mentor of David, and not Saul. While David served under Saul, he was serving God.
David was a young shepherd boy minding his own in the field, when Samuel the prophet of God came to the house of Jesse to anoint a future king. Jesse thought that it must have been one of the seven older Sons, who were already trained up in the ways of the world, but God had something else in mind.
Samuel asked if he had any more sons, and Jesse sent for David. When David arrived Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed David ! Sam. 16:13 After this, David went back to work doing his shepherding for a while.
A short time later, the philistines and their leader Goliath, came to war against Israel. Goliath called out Israel for 40 days and nights trying to get someone to fight, but no one would go. On the 40th day, David came to the battle to bring his brothers some food, and saw what had been going on.
His response to Goliath was “who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should taunt the armies of the living God…….let no mans heart fail him, your servant will go and fight the Philistine”. When Saul heard this he said, that is a noble gesture, but you are just a youth, you can not do that, he has been a warrior since he was a youth. David answered that while he was tending to the sheep, he had already killed a lion and a bear.
After finally convincing Saul, David went out and picked up 5 smooth stones, and killed the Giant. No other soldier in the entire army of Israel had the courage to slay Goliath, Why? Because, Saul probably did not infuse his men with the courage to do so. He himself was too much of a coward to go out and fight, so why would they. Instead, he just offered up a reward for who ever would do it. Saul could not produce integrity to fight, because he did not have it himself. Even Davids older brothers stood and watched as he went to fight.
So David the man after Gods own heart went out with 5 stones, and a sling and killed him with one shot. David himself became a giant killer. It had always made me wonder why David picked up 5 stones, the reason is because we serve the God of more than enough.
Everything reproduces after its own kind.
Later on in the life of David, he produced the same type of warriors. 2 Sam. 21:15-22
During these scriptures, they tell the story of how Israel was at war with the Philistines 4 more times in a very short span of time. There was a giant named Ishbibenob who tried to kill David, but one of his men named Abishai stepped up and killed him.
In another battle at Gob, Sibbecai one of Davids men killed another giant by the name of Saph.
The 3rd battle with the philistines during these verses, Elhanan killed another brother of Goliaths.
And in the 4th battle against the Philistines in these short verses, Perhaps the scariest of all of the Giants, Had 6 fingers on each hand, and six toes on both feet. He must have been a menacing character. V. 21 says when he defied Israel, Jonathan, Davids nephew slew him. Jonathan was Shimeah’s son.
Shimeah was one of Davids older brothers that was standing there watching, as David slew Goliath, but because Johnathan grew up under David’s warrior training, and not under his father, he was able to slay the giant.
Here we can see that because David killed giants and the enemies of Israel, he produced servants that could and would, and did do the same. 5 stones-5 giants.
Everything reproduces after its own kind. This is the kind of warrior that God is raising up today. He is looking for a few good men, and women who will not turn their tails and run during adversity, but will go out to the front lines to do the battle.
The type of example that you give unto people, will show for generations to come. The attitude of showing no fear for the enemy, and not talking about defeat when the war has not even began will show up in those around you.
