The Gospel Rooster
Luke 22:60-62
Here is one rooster that really entered the ministry! He has been called a sanctified (set apart) rooster. Jesus foretold of his crowing (preaching) Notice some things about this unusual rooster:
I. He Did What He Could ~ “This rooster crowed”
Ephesians 4:11, “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers.”
A. He did not try and do what he could not do
B. He did not bark like a dog, sing like a canary, or talk like a parrot, but he crowed like a rooster (be yourself)
II. His Was Not Ashamed ~ “He crowed before all”
Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;...”
A. His crowing did not embarrass him
B. His crowing had a message
III. He Was Faithful ~ “He crowed at the given time regardless”
II Timothy 4:2, “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.”
A. He did not change his crow
B. He was faithful in crowing
IV. His Job Was Not Popular ~ “He woke people up”
John 16:1, “They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.”
A. His job sometimes makes folks angry
B. His job was to crow loud
VI. He Did His Job Well ~ “He did the best he could”
A. He crowed at the right time
B. He crowed so Peter could understand him
Lets step up to the plate and be like this rooster and crow out the Gospel to the lost, and crow the truth to the saved, and bring them closer to God.
