The Invitations of God in the Bible
Come—to approach; arrive
Of Restoration Isaiah 1:18 for wayward Christian
"Come now, and let us reason together,"
Says the LORD,
"Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.
Of Rest Matthew 11:28-30 for the weary
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
Of Residence John 14:1-3 for the saved
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
Of Request Hebrews 4:14-16 for the all alone
Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
The final Invitation Of the Bible
Redemption for whosoever
Rev. 22:17
And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.
Rev. 22:20
He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
Matthew 18:11
For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.
Luke 19:10
For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
