Amos (9:11)
On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, and repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins and Rebuild it as in the days of old;
(9:12) That they may possess the remnant of Edom, And all the Gentiles who are called by my name, Says the Lord who does this thing.
(9:13) Behold the days are coming says the Lord, when the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him who sows seed; the mountains shall drip with sweet wine, and all the hills shall flow with it.”
Let’s stop right there…

We are working out of a book that we don’t see preached a whole lot today…
The book of Amos ….
One of what we like to call the Minor Prophets Amos was a man that many here today may be able to relate to …
Born some 750 years before the birth of the Messiah he preached about we can relate to the man because Amos in many respects was just like us…
Common…
Nor born from a priestly or noble decent…
Not a prominent or powerful man or a man of fame and fortune…
The text and the commentaries will tell you that the man Amos was very much a common man…
And not only have a common manned… But he came from a small town just a few miles away from Jeruselum…
So he was from the country too…
In fact… they say He worked as a sheepherder… Worked with hands… New how to make something out just a little bit…
And the Bible says that in this time in history God spoke to a Common man… to make an uncommon church and plant greatness in His people…
Amos was called to preach that God would do great things through the people that dwelled in His church…
That there would be a restoration within the church…
That the house of David … the Tabernacle of David … And the family of His people would be restored in a day…
Today I want to talk about…
Its PAYDAY… Being Elevated toward Excellence
God wants to sow into you this morning….
He wants you to really get close to this word…
Come back with me to verse 11 and look at what God is saying to you today…
(9/11) “On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down.
And I will repair its damages; Raise up its ruins and rebuild it as in the days of old”
God said He is about to raise up the Tabernacle…
Meaning He is going to Raise the Church…
Meaning He is going to Raise you…
See when God says He is going to Raise something You have got to understand that to Raise something means to take something and move it to a Higher Position.,..
When I raise something up … I am lifting it up...come on somebody...
I am about to elevate something from one position to another…
Tell somebody God is about to Raise the Roof in here…
Let me put to you another way…
When a monument is raised… When a house is build …. When a dream has been made reality…
Someone had to say yes…
Someone had to be in agreement with the yes…
And someone had to bring the idea to the table get to the yes…
And all of that had to occur in order for something to be elevated …
When the monument that is being constructed for Martin Luther King, was constructed… When you dreamed of owning your business…
When you bought your first home or when you got your degree…
For those monuments to be raised…
For those dreams to be made reality…
Someone had to say yes to the dream…
Someone had to agree with the dream…
And Someone had to bring the dream to the table to get to the yes…
For that dream to get lifted up…
For that dream to get moved to a higher level…
But what happens when you fall?
Well I knew you would ask, see when we fall we are simply doing the opposite of being raised…
If being raised is being lifted up to a HIGHER LEVEL…
Then falling must mean to come down to a LOWER LEVEL… Say amen to that…
Tell somebody: new Levels… New Devils…
But Tell the Lord… Say Lord???? I’m Ready to go Higher…
Lord??? I’M READY TO GO HIGHER…
Say it one more time Lord??? I m ready to go higher…
See God told Amos that he would lift up the House of David…
That He would lift up … That He would elevate the church and the family of God that had dropped or come down from a higher place and repair…
That He would restore what was damaged to a sound position …
That what was decayed and damaged… Would be replacing and re-assembled…
See, You were in a Higher Position … But you dropped for a minute…
You where in a higher place… But you fell to a lower place…
They held you in high esteem back then… But know folks are looking at you all crooked eyed and you know what… They had reason too…
But how many people know that God can take a basement dweller and make a him a Top seller?
But God is here today to tell you that He is about to lift you up through the tabernacle…
He is going to lift up your family…
He is going to restore and repair the decay and the damage that has been done by your enemy…
(Psalm 23:5) For God said the He will prepare a Table before you in the Presence of your enemies…
And while He anoints you with oil your cup shall runneth over…
That if I be lifted up I… I would bring all men unto me…
He said the If He be lifted up …
He would heal your family…
That if He be lifted up…
The Bible says that He would repair the damages…
The damages are the losses…
It’s what defines the harm…
It defines the loss or the Uselessness…
And see God is about to turn around what has made you feel less valuable…
He is about to make a u-turn on what you thought was “USELESS”…
He is gonna anoint what you thought was injured… heal what you thought was harmed...
So when you look back on those days of old…
When you look at the way it used to be…
You can see what God see’s…
You can feel what God feels…
And God will speak those things that be not as though they were…
Then you start thinking like a Corinthian and you start walking by faith and not sight…
You start acting like a Philippians and know that God shall supply all my needs through Christ Jesus…
That I am who God says I am…
A royal priest hood…
A child of the most High God… And a believer that My God will protect me from the fiery furnace…
In other words…
What Good was it to acquire the whole world and lose my soul…?
See this is what EDOM found out and they found out the hard way…
Turn to the next book in your bible... Called the book of Obadiah…
See there was a place in the bible that is called Edom…
Now I won’t go into the long version of the story but Edom was in many ways considered an evil land by God…
In Fact it was a land that in a short version is descriptive of a family feud that went the wrong direction and now there is no turning back…
And they way the scripture records it … the biblical history of this would be the same as if one half of your family needs assistance and it goes to another side of the family for help…
You travel miles and miles for help… You’re on your last leg and all you and the children have are the clothes on your back… You aren’t eating well, you have no shelter… You have no mobility…
But you have made it to your brothers and cousins home …
They will help me that my family…
Fam will help me…
Well, instead of your own blood helping you… they turn around and beat you down, look at you like your crazy, slam the door in your face and say KEEP WALKING…
ESAU and Jacob were family…. Jacob and Esau feuded over the birthright of the family… Israelites were descendants of Jacob… The Edo mites were descendants of Esau…
So when the Edo mites told the tired… hungry… weak… and blood relative Israelites keep walking…
God had a problem with that…
Where you see in Obadiah 1:10
God said “for the Violence against your brother Jacob… Shame will cover you. And the bible says that you will be cut off for ever”
Ok…
Why did we go there?
Well I had to give you that so you would get this…
Well go back now to Amos 9:12…
Cause God said…
And I will repair it’s (who’s? the church, who is the church? You… And who are you connected to? The family…)
And I will raise up … (Bring to a higher place) its ruins and rebuild it to the days of old…
Now get this…
(9:13) “that they may possess the remnant of Edom…
And all the Gentiles that are called by my name… Says the Lord who does this thing…”
What is God saying?
Listen… God didn’t like what Edom did to His people… And He let that be known by telling His prophets on more than one occasion that Edom would no longer hold power and that it would ultimately fall…
And that His people (the church of God) would take what bad men made for bad and give it to good men who lived for good...
The Bible says that they may possess it...
When you possess something that means you own it…
They trying to re-possess that means they own it…
They own it back…
But when you see that word possess… That God is telling you that you will possess it …
God is telling you that You own it,
That this is your property...
Its time for you to occupy this thing...
And when God tells you its time to occupy something…
When He tells you its you’re to own and possess…
You have step out and step in…
You have to step out on Faith and Step into your destiny…
You have to step out of worry and step into the Will of God…
You have to tell yourself…
I’m stepping out of confusion…
I’m stepping out of lack...
I’m stepping out of drugs…
I’m stepping out of procrastination…
And I’m stepping into the spirit of God…
I’m stepping into the favor of God…
And I’m stepping into the Mercy of God…
I’m gonna step into the sea of God’ forgiveness,
I’m walking in His will…
And I aint coming back…
Come on and give Him praise in the House…
Yes indeed…
I’m almost done go verse 13 for a moment…
(9:13) Behold the days are coming says the Lord, when the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him who sows seed; the mountains shall drip with sweet wine, and all the hills shall flow with it…
Okay…
Your Day is Coming says the Lord… Tell somebody my day is coming…
Say it again… My day is coming…
Ok… Because the bible says that there is a Day that the Lord has called for …
And On that day, things are going to change beyond what you have ever imagined…
They are going to turn inside out, upside down and round about…
And the best part about it is that this inside out upside down round about supernatural event will be for your Favor….
The bible talks about a Day where the Plowman (the Laborer) …The one that has been burdened… With the labor that brings sweat to the brow… …
The Plowman… the one who through His labor sets a course in the field…
See because if you are the plowman that means that you have to have a plow…
And I’m not from the farm but I know that a plow is an instrument used for turning up soil…
It’s used for cultivating …
And if a Plowman must have a plow than a reaper must reap something… It must acquire something like I reap the rewards…
So the Plowman sets up the soil and the reaper is the one who cuts the grain to bring up the harvest …
They use a sickle shaped instrument to cut through the field and lift up the harvest from the seed that was deposited and through the soil that was cultivated through the plowmen….
And see God said that the Days are coming when the Laborer…
The one who has been working...
The one who has been diligent to God and to God’s church…
The One that made it through in spite of …
You didn’t try to look pretty doing it…
You didn’t seek fame or fortune…
You didn’t t have a silver spoon and maybe you weren’t born on the right side of the tracks…
But you had something the rest didn’t have…
You had a strength that couldn’t be matched…
You had a will to succeed that was not going to be compromised…
And because of that …
God is basically saying.
Now it’s PAYDAY…
Its payday because now the laborer is about to take over… (Catch up to) and overtake the one who has been getting what God says was rightfully yours from the get go…
I’m taking back my deliverance…
I’m taking back my Love…
I’m taking back my mind…
I’m taking back my career …
I’m taking back my life …
I’m taking back my children
In spite of your days of old...
In spite of your way ward thoughts…
God is no respect of person… And God says
That we are children of the promise…
That every good and perfect gift cometh from above…
That your thoughts are not my thoughts
And my ways are not your ways…
And that My Word will go forth... And it will not come back void…
That means at if I promise you riches in glory…
That if I promise that what you ask your shall receive…
That if I tell you the words of Joshua to BE Strong and of a good course…
BE not afraid…
Neither be dismayed….
For the Lord thy God is with thee wherever you go…
That means from unemployment to empowerment … I’m with you…
From Broke to Blessed… I am with you…
From the mistakes to mercy to miracles to ministry I am with you…
I will never leave you nor forsake you…
No one shall pluck you out of my hand…
And everything that you have gone through … Everything that has hindered you … Every burden shall be removed in the name of Jesus …
And all things shall come together for the Good of them that Love the Lord and who are called according to there purpose…
Somebody Give God some praise in the House today…
