Marriage: What Does Scripture Say

What does God say about marriage? We find marriage first mentioned in Gensis 2:24. We are told that God created them male and female and for this reason a man (woman) shall leave their father and mother and shall cleave (join) unto his wife (her husband) and they shall be one flesh.
This speaks very plainly about marriage. A man or a woman must leave their father and mother and join together with their partner and they are one person and not two. We find marriage again in Matthew 19:4-6
Jesus says, “have ye not read that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female. And said, For this cause shall a man (woman) leave father and mother and shall cleave to his wife (husband): and they twain (two) shall be one flesh?
Wherefore they are no more twain but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”
I’d say that Jesus was plain enough. He said join together and don’t leave. So, why is it that so many modern people think it’s okay to leave their husband or wife, thinking of themselves and what they want. Many have said, “The love died”. Real love doesn’t die. One or the other kills it. God gives us that real love, not ourselves and if we throw that away, we are throwing away a gift from God Almighty and he will not let it pass. There will be recompense. No, that doesn’t mean to stay with an abusive spouse. It means that if the other is trying and you walk away, you are wrong, in God’s eyes. You aren’t right and he will demand an accounting one day without excuses or maybes.
Next, we turn to Mark 10:7 where it repeats Matthew 19:4-6 exactly. Again Jesus warns about not putting your marriage away or leaving. If it wasn’t important, it wouldn’t be repeated word for word. The next scripture, Ephsians 5:31 repeats the message a third time.
It makes you wonder what God will do when those that wrongly divorced their life partner or walked away stand before him. Will they get away with it? The answer is no.
In I Corinthians, we are told that the husband is to give due benevolence or respect to his wife and the wife likewise to her husband. The wife has no power over her own body but the husband and the husband, likewise, has no power over his own body but his wife does. Let not the wife depart from her husband nor the husband from his wife. In other words, stay together and don’t leave. In chapter 7, verses 12-15, we are told that if a believer marries an unbeliever and the unbeliever wants to stay then don’t part but if the unbeliever wants to leave, then the believer is not bound by their vows but are free. If both are believers, they must stay together.
Jesus gives us one reason for divorce and that is Fornication which is called wickedness. Don’t kid yourself believing that it’s okay to take off or divorce. It isn’t and you will answer to God in person.
We are told marriage is sacred and special, so who gives us the right to destroy it? No one. Because of the modern ways, it’s taught to be okay but they are not Christians either. If they were, they wouldn’t teach this garbage. Most of this comes from the Feminists and Gays, no anyone that’s a believer.
We shall see countless people judged for this when God sits on the Great White Throne. What excuse is good enough for God? The answer is NONE! You can try to excuse yourself but you can’t and in your heart, you know it.
I pray that everyone reading or hearing this will stop and turn their marital problems over to God and let him handle it. He will solve all the problems his way, not yours.
As I have said again and again, Let go and let God. That solves the problem. He is the only answer that we need. God’s will will be done whether we like it or not and we will answer for every sin unless we are saved and forgiven.
I pray that you will seek Christ while there is still time. You are not guaranteed the next moment, only this one. What if you waited and fell dead? You would be dead in sin and will not be forgiven because you didn’t accept his free gift. That is a dangerous way to think, too dangerous.
If you want forgiveness and hope and joy and peace, come to Christ right now. The moment is here and you have to decide. Don’t wait until tomorrow. Don’t wait until next week. If you wait, you may wake up in eternity in the Lake of Fire. That Lake does exist and it’s waiting for the devil and his angels and every person who hasn’t accepted Christ when judgment day comes.
If you want Christ, now is the time to ask. That’s right, ask. It’s that simple. Close your eyes and pray right now.
Admit to God that you are a sinner and ask Jesus to come into your heart. Be sincere when you ask. This isn’t a joke and asking with your mouth or brain won’t cut it. You must ask from your heart. Then tell God that you believe that Jesus died on the cross and arose the third day and thank God for salvation through Jesus.
After you pray, tell those with you or call your pastor and tell him that you have accepted Christ as your savior. He will help you and give you scriptures to read. Then pray and read God’s Word every day not just once in a while. Let God’s Spirit take over and lead you. He will lead you down the right path and help you every time trials come. No matter how dark it seems, he will carry you through.
After all, your treasures are now in heaven where nothing can happen to them and your home is there as well. We are just passing through this world on the way to heaven. It’s a stopping point and time of learning about God and his ways. If you have problems, give them to Jesus. He knows what to do about them. Don’t worry about tomorrow because God is already there and knows what’s going to happen.
Yes, trials will come because Satan wants to turn you aside, like he did me for years, but not now. He will try every trick he knows to get you to fail. With Jesus, you can’t. He will use your old life to try and trick you into returning to that way of life. God will give you the strength to resist.
We are told to resist the Devil and he will flee from you. Use God against him and he cannot stand there. That’s the way it is. I know it and it works great.
Let us close with this thought. Jesus is your savior and you don’t have to worry anymore. No matter how rich or poor you are or how bad it is, God will see you through.
